Introduction: As a formal Braum's employee, many situations were never adequately handled. I went into Braum's thinking it'd be the perfect summer job for a student just wanting some side money straight out of school. But instead, I got the complete opposite. I will break this review into multiple sections to explain everything that went on thoroughly.
Application Process: The whole hiring process was utterly unprofessional, from the application to the interview. Upon making my application, I was never followed back up with and waited an entire month before knowing whether I was hired or not. When I was eventually given an interview date and time, I was entirely stood up by the manager, Regina, without a proper apology.
Hours: As a 14-15-year-old employee, when it comes down to the number of hours you can work, it's "6 hours a day and 30 hours a week due to child labor laws," according to Regina and Alex. Since I've worked here, Regina told me to always put my availability in HotSchedules, and Regina would use it to make the following week's schedule, but each time I do, it's never considered. Instead, I constantly have to remind Regina due to her irresponsibility as a manager and am told: "I'll look at it." When it comes down to the hours and what we can work, we are constantly turned down. They've been hiring people since I've been there and continue to hire people year round and then cut our hours, saying it's due to labor because they won't stop hiring people. Jaylen also asked for more hours but was declined from Regina because "she always has to tell us what to do."
Staff: As a manager, I think you're here to uplift your staff while also ensuring rules are followed and correctly set in place. Regina has shown her true colors to not only me but other employees, from talking about several employees to other staff, belittling us, and biased opinions about what goes on without having the whole story or accurate information. A situation happened not too long ago where another staff member and I had an altercation. Becky told me to go home because, quote on quote, "I got caught and the other girl didn't." Upon telling her that it was unfair to send me home and let the other girl stay, I was utterly unacknowledged and ignored. Regina fails to fulfill her manager position and still has some learning and maturing to do. Becky is also very rude and can hurt your feelings without sympathy. She would several times state, "you're not entitled to breaks," all because we asked for one. Becky can be fun but has lost all my respect as a manager. She always asks us to do things outside our job description, nor were we trained to do these things. We get paid 7.75/hr, and when we tell her we don't want to do something that we were not correctly trained to do, she gets upset and rants about it to other employees. Aliana is no better than Becky and has favorites. She always chooses between Jaylen and me when it comes to doing things. She made me clock out minutes before my shift ended and said, "I only have a few minutes left." She's even made several unneeded comments and always runs to Regina to tell her any little thing that goes wrong. Upon confronting her about how she treated us, she acted as if she didn't know what she did and had lost all memory of these situations. She picks and chooses when she wants to be cool with people, and several employees have "warned" me of her, stating her behavior and attitudes were beyond acceptable. A staff member also told me that she flirts with Jason, another employee on the job, which according to training videos, is against the conduct. Pam, Kayla, and Keke are excellent employees/ managers though and I wish them nothing but the best! (sorry if i'm...
Read moreTHIS REVIEW IS SPECIFIC TO THIS LOCATION! I rarely go to braum's, but today I decided to go and had the worst experience of my life. First off it was packed and I'm a pretty patient person when it comes to things like that. I work in retail so I can understand the concept of long lines. I went in there expecting to wait a long time so I had my husband stand in the ice cream line while I went into the food section. There was only one person in front of me. They ordered waited off to the side and received their food and NOT in a timely manner. I waited and waited and still didn't have anyone ask me for my order. FINALLY someone asked if I've been helped and I shook my head as the guy behind me a little testy says "no we have not!" I order and jump in the line with my husband since he was still waiting. They called my number and I grabbed my tray jumped back into the ice cream line with tray and continue to wait and wait. The people in front of us get served, pay for their ice cream, and leave. Two of the server ladies stand in front of us and keep talking to each other. One of them looks at us like she is about to finish her sentence . we wait patiently. They say a few more things to each other and finally the question of the hour. " what will you have?" I order a fancy sunday ask if the brownie has nuts she says yes. I really hate nuts but I seriously only came to this place for a brownie ice cream. so I say "ok I guess that's fine." I ask if I can have oreos sprinkled on top she says that would add to the cost I say never mind. She asks if I still want the other toppings and I say just a little fudge and whip cream and the cherry. We finally get our order and pay and she sets my sunday down. NUTS all over it. I pick it up take it to the table try to scrape them off. They are embedded into that sucker. At this point I'm a bit peeved but I say whatever I just won't eat it. I shouldn't be eating the sugary crap anyways. My husband says no I'll take care of it. I tell him not to be a dick. he promises he won't and then I wait and wait AND WAIT. Seeing a trend here? He sat at the register for 15 minutes while the girl who checked us out glances at him continuously and FINALLY asks if he needs anything. He even offered to pay for the repaired ice cream. By the way all of this happened while NOBODY smiled said a your welcome or anything. There was seriously miserable looks on all of their faces and one customer said thank you in the nicest was and the girl was so rude back said a crappy have a nice day(more like she was dead inside) and just turned around. Again no smile. I hardly ever go to braum's and now I don't think I ever will. My husband said if I have a craving for braum's ice cream and it's packed he will go to Wendy's for their frosties. I will put in that the cashier lady tried her best to put on a nice face but even her smile was strained due to the negative atmosphere of the...
Read moreI was terrified to eat at Braum's since 5th grade. I had an incident where I found a small spider inside a burger wrapper that ruined the chain for me until about 10 years ago. My child brain said if the one in my hometown had a spider one time, they all do EVERYTIME. Ridiculous, but true. I moved to a new city continued avoiding them like the plague. My then boyfriend, now husband, asked to stop by there on the way home. Unaware of my history with this chain and not wanting to run him off with my special brand of crazy, I smiled and said okay. I rationalized he is eating there, I can just make sure he is out of my car before he opens his bag. We get to the house. I sit all the way across the table eyeballing him and his food. No words, no movement. He asks me if I want any of his fries. For some reason I laugh maniacally and say no. Wide eyed he says while chuckling, "Okay, What's going on? You've been being creepy McCreeperson over there since we got here." I thought this was the end, he is going to see my freak flag and run. I told him my story the whole time thinking I'm sunk. And then this happened, he goes to the kitchen gets a clean out of the box white trash bag, cuts open so it covers the table like a table cloth. He takes all his food and spreads it out across the table. Even the burger he takes apart and spreads out on the table. Then he tells me, "I'm not sure if this will help but I want you to want to take Sunday drives with me to get a ice cream cone at Braum's one day in the future. So we'd better get started getting over that fear now, together. We trashed that food. Scraped off the condiments, cut up patties. It was surreal. But now, 10 years later, we go for ice cream with our daughter, and oh how...
