My friend and I visited this place around 4pm to have a late lunch. After asking for a table outside, the host who also seemed to be the manager started giving us this long explanation that because all tables are reserved he only had one spot for us outside, to which we said ok. When we sat down he gave us this piece of paper to scan and look at the menu. Interestingly on the bottom he had written down a two hour window for the spot, which meant that we had to be done by then. Looking around except for two tables well other tables were empty and stayed empty until we left!
My ordered a salad and asked Salmon to be added for extra fee. When the salad arrived, there was no Salmon on it. He told the host, who had brought our food. He apologized and went in and brought back a rediciliusly small piece of salmon definitely not worthy of the fee charged. So my friend are the salmon pretty fast and asked the waitress to add another piece. This time it took the waitress forever to bring out the second piece and by then my friend was done with his salad. The waitress noticed the late arrival and took the second piece off our bill.
I explained this in detail so one could see how we felt unwelcomed on top of the bad service. If you don't have a table or if tables are really reserved, then just say it and we'll go elsewhere. If not, what is the whole fuss about not giving us an actual table when no one really had reserved it for that time? Also, what is the deal with the service? First off, shouldn't your added pierces to your plates follow a predefined standard? Why the extra small but over priced piece of salmon? And then why deliver the second piece so late?
I realize that this is just one observation and this place has a lot of good reviews overall. But I am giving these guys a bad review so hopefully they notice and get their act together. The whole idea of going somewhere to dine is not to fill one's stomach up. Ok the contrary it's all about the pleasant experience so one could let go and relax. If from start off you're reminding the customer that they're not welcomed or if you mess their food, is there any other reason to visit you?
Response to Owner's comments: " When seating, we always honor 2 hour seating reservations and have been using the time sheet with QR code for Menus for a year now" = You may think this is a good system. However this system is rarely used elsewhere. The only thing you are doing is to add unnecessary and unpleasant stress on your customers. Most customers finish eating before 2 hours and leave. You may have a group staying for more than 2 hours every now and then. So what?
"If you had come in within the two hour window for the next reservation, we will always seat you in a spot where you can enjoy the same 2 hour seating as well, hence the tables being empty during your visit" = We weren't aware that there is a whole protocol for visiting your place and grabbing a table! Personally I prefer to go somewhere where I am welcomed to enter and enjoy a meal without warrying about a protocol in place.
"Since you were not happy with your portion and expressed this to your server we immediately started a new piece for you." = We never expressed anything to our server. My friend requested an additional portion and he his goal was to pay for the extra piece fully. Please don't make up your own version of what happened!
"All of salmon are portioned out to be the same size for a salad addon" =This is incorrect. The first Salman portion served was about 1/3 of the second portion. That's why my friend ordered a second piece.
"When your friend asked for the second piece the manager automatically pulled it off your tab, as we are a hospitality business." = In my opinion, the second Salman portion was pulled off the tab because of several incidents that occurred not because we made any complaints.
I agree with the manager that experience is everything. I went through the whole detail of what happened to express how small issues here and there in our experience caused us not to...
Read moreFantastic Brunch Experience at Acova!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Acova for Sunday brunch, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. We chose to sit at one of the tables in the bar section, and our waiter, who was also the bartender, truly made our visit outstanding.
The service was nothing short of phenomenal. Our bartender/waiter was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. He made excellent recommendations, which added to the overall enjoyment of our meal.
As for the food, it was simply outstanding. I ordered the burger with bacon and fries, and it was a flavor explosion. The burger was cooked to perfection, and the addition of bacon took it to the next level. The fries were crispy and seasoned just right.
My girlfriend opted for the grilled Caesar salad and a cup of tomato basil soup. She couldn't stop raving about how delicious both dishes were. The salad was fresh and had a delightful smoky flavor from the grilling process, while the tomato basil soup was rich and comforting.
To complement our meal, we both enjoyed bloody marys, and they were indeed amazing. The perfect blend of flavors and just the right amount of spice made them a delightful addition to our brunch experience.
In summary, Acova delivered an outstanding brunch experience. From the friendly and knowledgeable service to the mouthwatering food and delightful drinks, this restaurant has earned a special place on our list of favorites. We can't wait to return and explore more of their menu. If you're looking for a memorable brunch spot with top-notch service, Acova is...
Read moreSo Acova has definitely stepped up their game! I've visited them very recently and tried their back patio. If you haven't you must! It could be a family affair. The is a small area where your kids can be kids while you enjoy their sunny expansive area with colorful chairs.
The back patio is also perfect for a GNO. I've seen a small group of women just having fun!
Now is this what caught my eye the most. Their bar? It's one of those where you can sit in the patio and you're still connected to the bartender. Because it's half in half out. Bartender's in the bar (inside) while you're outside enjoying the CO sun which has been perfect lately! That's my next target coming up!
We tried their Bistro Steak, Fisherman's Stew and for appetizers we ordered their Acova Fried Chicken and Potato Cheese Pierogis.
All the above I highly recommend! The steak was tender and flavorful. Fisherman's stew was loaded. The cheese pierogis although not the traditional one is so good. The Acova Fried Chicken was a standout to me and my group!
The spicy Burros Over Jalisco is your choice if you like some spice to your drink! You like kombucha? Then do the Kombucha Cooler! Refreshing! The Painkiller is a fun drink! Try it! Of course The Misty is always a favorite!
The staff here remained on point with their recs and always professional but warm and...
