I've seen 3 shows here and on my way to my fourth tonight. The writing, music, acting, singing, casting, sets are over the top. I'm fortunate to have a friend who's a member who takes me regularly and I can't recall an evening yet I didn't thoroughly enjoy myself. The theater itself is comfortable, clean, centrally located and perfectly situated in an area which is easily walkable and offers an almost unlimited array of places to eat and/or drink both before and after the show. Concessions stand offers a nice selection of treats both sinful and not-too-unhealthy for reasonable prices. Friendly, helpful staff. Parking is on the street but we've never had a problem finding a spot within a couple of blocks. The neighborhood is funky and fun, the views of the city lights are amazing (ifyou're lucky enough to be the passenger on the drive up). I'm seriously considering my own membership should my friend ever decide to give his up. I couldn't recommend the Bug theater more highly as a venue for a...
Read moreSuch potential but cheap laughs Correction: oh! Noooo. This one star review was for the play, "I love you, now change." Great actors and play.... but leave politics out of it. Inclusivity?
My big bad and I apologize to the Bug.
--The theater review: Cozy and not a micro theater. Reminds me of a small town movie theater. Could see the stage and hear the actors clearly from 3/4 back. Seats are first come, first seated.
Really friendly staff, great variety of movie style boxed snacks and drinks. Beer and box wine thoughtfully selected.
Street parking insane as the theater is in the middle of residential area. So dark at night. Plan on adding $5 for parking in the lot across the street to your visit. Spot Hero or bring a fiver.
One restroom per sex (lines). One suggestion: add another snack person when house is packed.
Another suggestion: Bring your ticket. My Gold Star purchase wasn't logged. They took my word for it (wow!) but I was able to pull up my purchase...
Read moreThe bug theatre is great! First off, it's absolutely one of the cutest/coolest little places I've ever been to. The vibes are perfect! I've only ever been there for this event called "the acro cats" (they'll be back 2027, you HAVE to check it out! One of the coolest things ever especially if you're a cat lover) but I'm very intrigued on attending future events here! I learned about things like nerd night, where people give short talks on things they are knowledgeable in, and that it's also a movie theater! I've heard of things like a Star wars burlesque show, and there's a saw (yes, the movie) musical which sounds ridiculous in the best of ways. Cheap drinks, fun snacks and overall amazing vibes. Definitely check out their upcoming events and hit a show at the bug theatre, you won't regret it! Heres some videos from me volunteering at the acro...
