Some of the worst food I have ever eaten.
Saddened to see so many fake reviews. Notice how many start with the exact same two words: “Persian food and the service blah blah blah” “Persian food and the atmosphere blah blah” This is done both to boost ratings and increase search algorithm results.
Aside from this dishonest practice, this is by far the worst Persian restaurant I have ever eaten at. I actually did order food here today, 12/3/2020. The meat was rubbery and flavorless. The rice was also rubbery and had a strange non-rice flavor, kind of chemical-ish. Hummus was actually good after adding salt, and the yogurt was decent after adding plenty of store bought yogurt to cut down the excessive mint. This koobideh shared more similarities to a hot dog than any other kabob I have eaten or even cooked for myself.
I feel bad because the owners were genuinely nice and friendly toward me. I sincerely hope they take this feedback as an opportunity to make severe and dramatic improvements; rather than posting or buying falsified reviews to hide...
Read moreWe had a hot lunch here on a Sunday afternoon. There was surprisingly only one other guest eating lunch. Our hummus appetizer was served with hot pita, which is always a good sign. My chicken leg entree #10 was served with Persian style rice and dried cranberries. The overall taste was a bit sweet and sour. The entree was served nice and hot, and was pretty tasty, but not amazing. It was served with enough rice for three meals, in my opinion. What I appreciated about Darya was its air of authenticity. This is definitely a family affair, and the service was quietly friendly and efficient. It’s not fancy or pretentious inside, and the ambiance could be improved with a little music perhaps. I feel like this type of eatery exemplifies the American dream. If they can get more customers, and maybe diversify the menu or add some photos to the menu to help guide diners, it will fill a niche in the Denver...
Read moreWe were looking for koobideh kabobs and stumbled across Omar Khayyam! It was an incredible surprise. Farik was so welcoming and kind, making us a custom blend of tea and helping me select dishes that were vegetarian to try. My boyfriend got the koobideh and liked it, but unfortunately I didn’t get photos. We also tried the bread, okroshka, buckwheat, summer salad, and potato dumplings. Everything was so fresh tasting and we look forward to coming back in the future!
One note is that there are some images of a Persian menu on the Google listing that we didn’t realize were outdated. They don’t have a “typical” Persian menu (more of a fusion menu) which surprised us at first, but we embraced it and were so happy we did so. It was delicious so definitely stop by...
