As a new business has sprouted in the heart of Aurora this hot pot stands tall against its other competitors. I had a great time at this restaurant both from eating their delicious food and having great service. Not only is it in a great location but it also shows great effort in presentation and quality.
ATTENTION TO DETAIL: I was wow'd from the beginning when I entered the restaurant as there are many beautiful decors throughout. It served as a comfortable, welcoming, and culturally appealing aesthetic. The thing that got me the most was that the pot that the broth comes in is a fantastically designed piece of work. If you look in the photos you can see the details that run the whole pot as well as a gorgeous lid that you take off yourself. This showed me that the owner had a great sense of attention to detail for the store. It was an experience from start to finish.
THE BROTH: When I saw the different choices of broth for the hot pot I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had Kimchi Broth as one of the choices as I have not seen this in the other hotpot restaurants in the area. There are many customers who I have heard were mixed about the taste of kimchi or its authenticity but I spoke to the owner of such details an was informed that the kimchi was created by their Korean Chef. I can confirm the taste is not just your run of the mill kimchi from H-mart next door as I grew up my whole life eating home made kimchi and can tell what is high quality. I highly recommend trying the kimchi broth as it is refreshing and delicious to cook your food in. I also tried the spicy broth and loved it, it is everything you expect to be with Chinese spices and makes the food that is cooked in it taste amazing. It is not too spicy either but be careful of taking a sip from the top layer of the broth as the spicy oils and spices sit on top of it.
THE MEAT: My favorite out of Fatty beef, Lamb, and brisket would have to be the brisket and fatty beef. One thing I noticed from the fatty beef is that it is about a 1:1 ratio of fat and marbled beef, cooking it to medium rare will leave a pleasant fluffy and smooth texture in your mouth. The brisket will give you more of a soft pillowy sort of texture that is absolutely delicious. You really can't go wrong with any of the meat, they all taste great and I can't see anything that would make them dissatisfying.
THE OYSTERS: Yes you are seeing that right, there are all you can eat oysters on the menu and they are just amazing. The yield of oyster is very high on each shell, unlike some other restaurants where the meat may be small, and you can pair them up with the sauce you make at the sauce bar. My friends and I ordered a lot of oysters and I remember they were always mentioned about how good they were. If anyone claims to get sick from them feel free to use this review as proof that they are high quality...
Read moreDefinitely number one for worst hot pot in denver metro area. Upon arrival we were told it would be a 30 or 40 minute wait for a party of 2. This isnt a issue as this place is currently short on servers. We said we would wait outside and gave him or phone number. This was at 3:50 at at 4:45 we went back inside to check on the wait and we were told he tried to call us 4 times and then took us off the list. We checked the phone number and never received a single call. We were seated just after this. Sitting near the door we could hear other partys coming in. In under 30 minutes he used this same line on 4 other groups claiming he called them 4 times then removed them from the list. Once seated we were asked for a drinks order and told she would be back to take the rest of the order in a minute. About 3 minutes later a young guy came over said our server left to use the bathroom and he would take our drink order. After about 15 minutes our order was placed. It only took about 5 minutes for the broth to arrive. We ordered our meat limit of 2 plates at a time and then added 2 vegetable sides and one seafood. They brought all of it but the one vegetable side. We are what was brought and ordered 2 more plates of meat and one order of spam and one order of dumplings. They brought one of the meats 4 thin slices of spam and 2 small frozen dumplings. This continued through out the meal with a average of 2/3rds of what you order you will receive. Over all compared to broths at the 3 other closest hot pot restaurants this broth was watered down and had very little flavor. The sauce bar as a large number of sauces but is missing most of your common sauces found during hot pot. For a price of 50 dollars for 2 people this is in the middle ground for this meal in the area. With many different options located within 20 minutes or less from this location I don't see old town hot pot staying in business long. Over all dont waste your time or money waiting for a call that will never come or a meal that you may never get. Drive 3 minutes down Havana and enjoy a flavorful relaxed and well priced...
Read moreIf I could leave a 0 star review I would. We came in on a Saturday at 8:30 p.m when they close at 9:30 p.m . When we first walk in, the staffs already gave us an attitude for coming in late. We have a party of 7 and they put us at a table of 6 and put the chair on the end. Otherwise we have to sit at two different tables. So two of us have to share one of the pot if we want to sit together. Then, when it comes to the last call before they close the kitchen. We ordered the last foods before they close the kitchen, but when they bring it out it missing a lot that we have to keep asking them. And that when the staffs gave us attitude and say the kitchen is close already. We said we ordered but it never come out. Finally they go grab the missing foods that we order. Then the staffs started cleaning all the tables around us making very loud noisy sound and acting so rude while there are still customers eating there. Later on, there is a guy approaching our table and acting like they want to kick us out because they are closing. We understand that so that we called him to our table and tell him to grab us a bill. He came back with a bill and a card reader and ready to check us out. He said couple times that we won't charge for the foods if you guys not finish it. Then, we decided to leave because we don't want them to wait any longer. The manager (her name is Alexis) stopped us on our way out and say that we have to pay for the leftover foods. We told her that the guy checked us out said that he won't charge us for the leftover foods if we don't finish it. She argued with us back and forth and we told her we are not satisfied with the services at all and we got mistreated. That's not how customer service should be. They were very rude and the manager is very unprofessional. I told them we don't mind paying for the leftover foods but the way they treat us is unacceptable and we won't be returning. They ended up saying that's fine and go ahead with the reviews so here I am. I like to support local business, but please STAY AWAY from this type of business. Spend your money...
