Update, 3/19/2024: Decided I was tired of my own cooking, so walked to Randall's for take-out. I had the crawfish etoufee, red beans and rice, and potato salad. Everything was super fresh and the flavors perfectly balanced. Music more sedate this time out, a welcome change. Server was excellent, worked like crazy to take care of the whole room, but she made it happen.
Old review: My friend had the shrimp po' boy and loved it, I had the shrimp dinner and loved it. Shrimp was succulent, perfectly fried and breaded. Red beans and rice were good, especially after I added a big shot of the Frank's sauce on the table. Wine was just fine, nothing posh, but not bad. The server was outstanding in every way, the perfect server I wish I could put in my pocket and take home.
I wish I could give Randall's five stars, but it was so loud my friend and I had to yell at each other for a conversation. If you're looking for a quiet meal, Randall's is not the...
Read moreRandalls is a local eatery with a local clientele. The have a stage for live performance in the evening.
We were there for lunch. While we were seated promptly, it took about 15 minutes before anyone came to the table. After the initial table visit delivering water and cutlery it took another 15 to 20 minutes before our order was taken.
The place was not busy. We were one of three occupied tables. With our order entered we waited another 35 minutes for the food to come out.
We had ordered sandwiches. Mine was a poboy. It arrived on a hamburger bun. The meat was charred.
I enquired after the meal about the long service time. Apparently there was an emrrgency in the kitchen and the chef left before making our order. A back-up cook had to be called in.
I really wanted to like the place, and might give ut a second try. The rating is based on my one experience there. It may or may not be representative of the...
Read moreFinally I tried Randall's recommended by many as a place for soul food and New Orleans food. I ordered gumbo, and a shrimp, wings, and chicken combo. I was not impressed with the fried items, bland and over fried. The gumbo had a good taste, but the meat ingredients seemed like they were added as an afterthought, but not cooked together in the main soup. The batter on the shrimp was nearly nonexistent. It seemed like frozen cooked shrimp were thawed, battered then fried. Now I have diarrhea. I think it's from the gumbo. I've eaten nowhere else today but at Randall's. The food was a bit pricy too. I was raised eating New Orleans food. This was not New Orleans gumbo like my mother...
