In a word...Delicious. Every dish was great and full of flavor. The long broth preparation process, the ingredient quality, and the excellent customer service all came together to make this a great experience. Best ramen I have had in a long time. I just wish I lived closer. 😂 Corner ramen is a must stop if you are in the area!
Edit 1: Sadly many ramen places resort to instant broth powder, so I love that they actually make their own bone broth. The pork for their charsiu is sourced from a Japanese company and is amazing. The hot spring eggs are like eating pudding. Seriously good eats and I haven't even mentioned the poke bowls yet. Do yourself a favor and stop by.
Edit 2: Its been a while, and now I live in Denver. I have tried several other ramen shops in Downtown Denver and it really is no comparison. Corner Ramen beats every other shop around on food quality. Seriously, broth, noodles, meat, eggs...Corner Ramen is superior all around. A second thing I wanted to mention is how well it stands up with delivery. A big worry on noodles is getting soggy. They package the broth separately so the noodles don't get soggy. Also, the type of noodle is special and has a better mouth feel when combined later. I got delivery at another upscale ramen shop and the noodles weren't even close. I do recommend heating and stirring the broth before combining with the noodles though, because they add salt before delivery rather than during the cooking to better control the salt content. This can lead to the salt not mixing evenly in your bowl. So basically...delivery approved!...
Read moreWhere do I start? I was very excited to have a ramen spot in our neighborhood. With the recent trend of new ramen shops sprouting up all over the city we hoped it would offer at a minimum similar quality as the price would suggest. We called ahead to order a Shoyu and a Tonkatsu. I gave my name and the two guys working the register neither could find the order on their tiny notepad so they asked me what I ordered. Well I was told it wasn't ready. Fine, but it would have been nice to pay so I could just leave when it was ready but instead immediately started helping another guy. Coincidentally, they had to ask what he ordered too. No problem, new places have to work out the kinks. No ambiance or decor to speak of. Alright all of that can be improved. Both ramens were only marginally better than freeze dried Maruchan (give me store bought Nong Shim any day over either of these). Soup was uninspired and lacked any real defining flavor. All the sesame oil and togarashi couldn't save these. The trend of expensive ramen while being a simple comfort food is fine so long as you have the broth and noodles to back it up. The noodles were gross and starchy. I've never once seen my wife not finish a ramen. We won't...
Read moreI had a very important meeting with a family member today who arrived earlier than myself. We really looked forward to trying a new Ramen spot in the area while catching up over a hot meal. However, the experience will remain unforgettable. He ordered a drink while patiently waiting for me to arrive. Sadly, I received another call from my family before my arrival to notify me of an incident with the owner. Judging from the reviews, this is not the owners first time getting aggressive with customers. Especially over a petty matter.
After approaching my family, he aggressively asked how long he would be there. Mind you, no one else was in the store other than employees. Instead of actual service where one would ask, "Can I get you anything else?". My family then decided to leave with his belongings, where then the owner decided to kick my family in the back, causing him to drop his belongings and groceries. The owner then made matters worse by damaging the groceries we just paid for. Escalating the matter even worse, he threatened to use deadly force. Thankfully, the police arrived to sort the matter out. As far as I'm concerned, Corner Ramen will remain a health risk on many levels to myself...
