I arrived at Saucy Southern with high expectations. After all, this is Denver, a city known for its vibrant food scene. But as soon as I took a bite of their wings, I knew I was in for something special. These weren't just any wings. No, these were wings with personality. Wings with soul. The first thing I noticed was the texture. The skin was crispy and crackly, giving way to juicy, succulent meat that practically fell off the bone. But it wasn't just the texture that impressed me. It was the flavor. Oh, the flavor. Saucy Southern's wings were coated in a perfect balance of spices and sauce, each bite exploding with a blend of heat and sweetness that left my taste buds begging for more. It was like a flavor symphony in my mouth. But what really set these wings apart was the attention to detail. Every element was perfectly executed, from the seasoning to the cooking technique. These wings were crafted with care and expertise, a true labor of love. Overall, I have to say that Saucy Southern exceeded my expectations. These wings were not just magnificent, they were downright addictive. I found myself going back for more, unable to resist the siren call of their perfect blend of flavors and textures. If you're in Denver and looking for a taste of true Southern hospitality, look no further than Saucy Southern.

Overall Rating and is it worth a visit: 8 to 8.25/10 and Yes. Sitting right in the heart of Denver University, you walk in and are immediately greeted by a friendly staff. You order at the counter, with 3 options for combo plates or you can grab individual meats and sides. As a heads up, they don’t actually smoke things here, everything is in fact grilled. That said, they do a good job with it and are consistent with their grilling technique across all of their meats. Since they don’t smoke anything, there is no real BBQ smell to speak of inside of the restaurant, but they offer a laid back, clean environment with a nice offering of quality options at a reasonable price, with all meals served in to go containers. Also, a special shoutout to Darrian who was working today and gave us great customer service and as an added bonus, he makes the banana pudding which I’d recommend getting as well. Another thing to note is that they don’t have a liquor license, so only bottled and fountain drinks available, in addition to sweet tea. No brisket here either, but they supplement that with having catfish and shrimp as a southern replacement. Would go back again if I’m in the area, especially for some of the shrimp. My pic isn’t the best, but to be honest, it was the third plate when I remembered to get a photo. The food is Hot, Flavorful, and sufficiently proportioned. Darian (I hope I spelled it correctly) was a pleasure! He’s charismatic, attentive, and asks great questions to make the most appropriate recommendations. My dad (visiting from Atlanta) and I tried it and enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere and the patience given to newbies with no idea of the menu. If all the employees are as enthusiastic as Darian, then this place will definitely surpass any other establishment in the area! Our only concern was how salty the string beans were. Other than than, if they offered a veggie plate with a cornbread muffin, that would be amazing! (Add cabbage or mixed greens- YUM)😋 Do yourself a favor and dine here! The Denver food scene has been bland, imo, but Saucy Southern (and a place called Nee Orleans Cajun Creations near 25 and Broadway) are waking up tastebuds! Thanks- my faith has been renewed in Denver restaurants. We ordered two-meat dinner to go. (Pictured) Oh yeah, the wings, 💋, cooked to perfection! Parking was a challenge. We parked on E Josephine and walked around. It’s near U of D, so be prepared to search for parking.

Take me to church! This new BBQ restaurant nestled just off the Univeristy of Denver campus is built different, on so many levels. First, rather than traditional smoked meats, Saucy's succeeds in its audacity to grill their meats. The assembly line of smiling faces takes your order as you choose between ribs, chicken wings, or Louisiana hot links, or all three. Choose your sides ranging from the near perfect Mac & Cheese, the baked beans sure to please, to the grilled teriyaki corn(one word to describe this relative of Mexican street corn on the cob-FLAVORBOMB!). But the best part is a detail many won't get: your order comes in styrofoam to go containers, and not just because seating is limited. It harkens back to a time when Southern Baptist churches used sell BBQ, fried catish or fried chicken dinners to their parishioners to promote fellowship as well as generate additional revenue. But rather than open up the menu to full-scale soul food, Saucy's just does what it does best: no frills BBQ that is good down to the bone. And if the grand opening crowd is any indication, Saucy's Southern BBQ will gain a following far beyond D.U undergrads looking for something new to eat in between classes. We will definitely be back!

I’m disappointed. I went to this place last year and it was amazing. I went recently and was very upset with the atmosphere. Let me start off by saying I haven’t ate all day and was really contemplating what to eat based on stuff don’t be right. So I took my chance here. When I walked in the entire counter where the food sits in those metal pans were all covered in BBQ sauce and food. Nothing was wiped down. They gave me my food with BBQ sauce all on the outside of the bag and all over the containers. It was a MESS!!! They put the fried food in with the wet food so once I got my food home it was soggy. The crust is falling off the fish and shrimp. The batter is very salty. The fish tastes weird like it’s old. The fries were salty. The Mac and cheese didn’t taste too great. I’m so upset. The best part was dude giving me a discount for Mother’s Day and a discount for being disappointed in the mess that was all over the bag and containers. Whoever the boss is needs to retrain that staff on cleanliness. Oh and my son said the bathroom was disgusting. I won’t be back…

Amazing service provided . They were very accommodating with people who may have allergies to tomato(something that is hard to find in most cuisine)! The staff, specifically Damie /an was very attentive and went above and beyond to ensure our experience was memorable. The food, which, served quickly was delicious, full of flavor and a healthy portion!! Ordered the frier catfish with a habanero sauce. It was battered with spices. The catfish was flaky and crispy on the outside,a satisfying crunch. I also ordered the macaroni and cheese whuch was delectable gooey cheeses and flavored with an array of spices and herbs with a green peppers blended in to give it a wonderful freshness. The fried okra was good and the green beans were flavorful. We also tried their elote style corn on the cob, a personal favorite.. The ribs were robust and fell of the bone. The fries were the most interesting, as they were sweetly flavored, but complimented well by their counterparts. We chose to dine in at the restaurant, how
