I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately it fell short. The open sign wasn't on and no other cars were in the parking lot, which made us question if they were even open or not. We ordered Horchata and a Mexican Coke to drink, with Breakfast Buritto, Quesabirria and Steak Chilaquiles. The food was just okay, but paying $54.65 for all of it is WAY TO EXPENSIVE. They think they are giving us a downtown experience, but in reality it's just the price that's downtown. $3 for an extra egg on the Chilaquiles is nuts.
On top of how absurd the price is, the service sucks. They didn't give us a number for our order since we were eating here. When our food was ready, they didn't even bring it to our table, they just told us it was ready. Even though we were the only people there, they still made us take our own food to our table. The place where you get sauces from is okay, but the nozzles on the sauces are dirty and not clean at all.
The food itself was just meh. The Egg was way overcooked and chewy, they forgot my sauce for my Quesabirria, which hardly had any cheese in it. A Quesabirria should be cheese city at every bite. But no, just a dry Quesabirria with no sauce. The Breakfast Buritto was just okay, but for $14 and getting the Birria version it should be amazing. But no, it's not good.
The place where you empty your dishes is also right by the entrance, which bottlenecks the people trying to enter, if there were any. Just go anywhere else but here.
There is a reason they are empty after being open...
Read moreIf you’re looking for good street-style tacos on corn tortillas, loaded with flavorful meat and topped with only onion and cilantro (like they’re supposed to be), look no further! The barbacoa is next level and for you average gringos out there, don’t be afraid of CHEEK MEAT! You’ll be delighted. It’s basically the pork shoulder of beef. Shreddy and flavor for days.
My wife is from Houston with amazing Mexican food culture and we frequent trips to Mexico whether to Mexico City, Playa, and/or Puerto Vallarta. All that to say, these guys know what they’re doing!
A quick shoutout to Brenda and Christian!!! Brenda makes one of the best margaritas in Denver, if not the best. Don’t be discouraged if you think the cups look small, they pack a boozy punch also just like they’re supposed to. As someone who has 2 liquor cabinets and crafts iterations on elevated margs and standard margs at home with regularity, these are so proper. Period.
Christian is an absolute G and is KILLING IT on the flat top. Both so friendly and producing incredible quality food and drink.
Thank you, Brenda. Thank you, Christian. And thank you Tacos Chano! My wife and I are very grateful to have you so close to our home.
P.S. Today marks my second visit in 2 days. Consistency is there already and coming back Friday with some friends to show them this...
Read moreThis place rules. Having read the other negative review, I would first like to point out that this is a standard walk-up counter-service restaurant format. I have no idea why someone would expect to have a server or where they think the bussing station should be. It makes no sense. The vibe of this place is clearly elevated Mexican-style taco truck (which I love).
The food was SO good. I ordered a variety of tacos - birria, chorizo, and al pastor. The al pastor was fresh off the spit and the birria was so moist in comparison to other taco spots I’ve been to. The salsas were amazing, as was the mango tajin margarita. My partner ordered an al pastor burrito and was also stoked on it. My only complaint was the music was a little loud bc you could hear stuff shaking indoors, but honestly the food was so great that it was easy to ignore.
The prices are also super reasonable - tacos range from $2 to $4 ish depending on the meat/complexity of the dish. Dinner for two with a cocktail and regular drink was about $42 which is super reasonable for this city. We will definitely...
