Decided to stop to dine-in for breakfast. I ordered the egg and potato breakfast burrito. I asked to owner/waiter to add steak because all the breakfast meat options listed on the menu are all pork. I also stated to the owner that I do not eat pork. He asked me if I wanted it smothered with mild, medium, or hot green chile (their green chile has no meat đđ˝), I told him spicy. My order comes back with egg, potato, and steak. I then asked for a side of guacamole and sour cream. They brought out a good amount of the both. Shortly after a few bites I noticed that there was diced ham inside my burrito. I stopped eating immediately and called the nearest waiter to come and explained what happened. He then asks me to hold on to look at my order at the POS terminal. After he looked at my order he comes and ask if I want another one (of course I want another one that shouldnât be a question) I said, âyes please.â My order comes back but this time my burrito is smaller than the first order and the side of sour cream and guacamole were half the amount of what I received the first time. After waiting for another fork I began to eat my burrito but only this time the green chili was mild. After those few bites I decided at that moment that what I wanted/ordered was not going to be whatâd Iâd hoped. So I kindly spoke to the owner and explained this SIMPLE mix up, as well as my dissatisfaction with my order 2Xs. I also explained that I didnât want a discount, just for the food to be prepared correctly, especially orders with SIMPLE modifications. He asked me if I wanted a shot⌠I said no thank you, because I donât drink. He then stated that the next time when I come in that he would offer me something. My thoughts were, âHow about not charging for the SIMPLE burrito order that was messed up 2Xs.â I know I said I didnât want a discount, but I feel like in the service industry you take care of the issue at the time it occurs if you can.
Donât get me wrong the workers and the owner are all nice people which is why I rated them a 3 with service, but their communication and/or articulation of simple order instructions needs A LOT of improvement. Also, they should not practice decreasing original portion of the food order because it had...

Kicking off a crisp Denver morning with an early breakfast hunt, we veered off the beaten path and landed at Chakas Mexican Restaurantâa vibrant little powerhouse that's equal parts cozy cantina and flavor fireworks. From the first whiff of sizzling chiles wafting through the door, we knew we'd struck gold; it was the perfect pit stop to fuel our day of Rocky Mountain roaming.
My husband eyed the porkchop with eggs and green chile on the menu with a skeptical squintâfair enough, it's not your everyday dawn dishâbut one forkful in, and he was grinning ear to ear. That chop? Thick, juicy perfection, grilled to smoky tenderness with a spice profile that danced without overwhelming, all nestled in a sea of creamy eggs and that legendary New Mexico-style green chile. Pure delight, zero regrets.
I, meanwhile, surrendered to the veggie omelette smothered in vegetarian green chile, and it was a revelationâfluffy eggs cradling a rainbow of crisp bell peppers, onions, and tomatoes, with fresh spinach that still had that satisfying crunch, like it was plucked from the garden that morning. The chile blanketed it all in tangy, roasted glory without a hint of sogginessâlight, bright, and utterly addictive. We savored every bite, coffee steaming alongside, as the sun crept up over the Front Range.
But the real heartbeat? The staffâincredible doesn't scratch the surface. Fun-loving pros who bantered like old pals, refilled waters with ninja precision, and checked in just enough to keep the vibe flowing without a fuss. Attentive? Understatementâthey made us feel like family crashing the best fiesta in town.
This hidden gem tucked away in Denver's mosaic is a must for anyone chasing authentic Southwest soul without the tourist traps. And for margarita mavens? Buckle upâthey sling 'em by the GALLON, frozen or on the rocks, ready to turn brunch into a bash. We're already plotting our next early-morning raid. OlĂŠ to Chakasâyou've got our hearts (and...
Read moreIt's the Far from best green chili. I have this place 3 chances. Most patrons truly want a restaurant to be it's best since dining out has become absurd with extra charges, fees & over priced food with obvious shrinkology happening in with restaurants, on top of poor quality. You do want small or independent restaurants to succeed but at some point it becomes a rip-off & insult to the customers trying to cheer on & help local restaurants to be successful. It wasn't only one of the worst Colorado green chili coupled with tiny portions & terrible quality but added on top of it all, a customer will be in the middle of their dish with bussers & servers attempting to take the customers meals/plates away under the guise of clearing plates. The old round them up & herd them out service mentality aka restaurant terminology of "turn & burn" which turning over tables as fast as they can without the care or gratitude of a customer choosing their establishment to spend their hard earned money on their restaurant while it's an expensive treat to dine out anymore for most people. Please do not believe or accept chakas as authentic Colorado green Chile or honestly good Mexican food . Colorado has lost very many restaurants with all the challenges the food industry has faced & continue to struggle with these past few years. The restaurants left standing are overly expensive or past affordable cheaper fare has also took huge jumps in pricing their food. Most of us don't have as many choices dining in Denver, which has become harsh towards all small, independently owned businesses in general & yes, price gouging has become our of control. Word to the wise to all businesses which honesty & reputation still matter in the centennial state so true Colorado green chili still matters here, as well as genuinely good...
