I am giving Tia's Tacos 5 stars because I really want to like this place and it was only their first day so I want to give them the benefit of the doubt. If I were giving a rating based on today's experience I would give Tia's Taqueria a 3. I will update my review and rating after giving them some more time to settle and I visit again. The good: - Clean ingredients - Nice aesthetic in the restaurant - There are gluten free options - Indoor and outdoor seating - The owners seem involved and nice - They have multiple high chairs - Great parking - Excellent location close to Little Kickers and Kickin It The feedback: - Ordering system needs to be updated. It is not clear how you will receive your food (if your name will be called or if it will be brought to you). - The ordering space is a little tight. Not sure if this could be improved by moving the in-person ordering cashier location. - The prices are confusing and very high. Not sure if California prices are appropriate for a Denver neighborhood spot. We spent ~$80 for two adults and two kids. Unfortunately at these prices this won't be a frequented restaurant for our family. - Prices need to be included on the laminated menus, not just the wall menu. - Half of our food came out on plates and the other half in togo containers. I feel like $18 enchiladas shouldn't be served in a togo box. - Chips, salsa and guac is $12. The guac and "salsa" came in little 4oz (maybe 5.5oz?) plastic togo cups. This seems like a very small portion for the price. The chips came in a paper togo bag. The "salsa" is pico de gallo? We had to remind them about the chips and they ended up coming out after our meal was delivered. - I ordered a regular burrito and was charged $20. I think they rung up some sort of jumbo burrito because it was massive. I couldn't even eat half of it. I asked for steak and got chicken. - The kids burrito was very large. I thought it was too large for a kid to successfully handle. I think the kids burritos need to be made a little smaller. Maybe two smaller burritos instead of one big one? - We tried to order a bean and rice burrito for our son with a dairy allergy and got a bowl of beans and a side of corn tortillas. It was all fine and it worked but it was just confusing presentation for what was supposed to be a burrito. We are rooting for this place to do well. It sounds like they have had success in California. I think they will also have success in Colorado if they are open to making some changes.

Very good new taqueria on Holly. This recently opened restaurant is small, but has an extensive menu with tacos, burritos, plates, and other things including some egg based dishes. The fish taco and the al pastor taco were both fresh and very good. They came with four salsas on the side. The green one I used was pretty spicy. You'll probably want a knife and fork. The tacos were very full and sloppy to eat by hand - especially the fish (tilapia) taco. Service was fast and friendly and kept up with the steady streamof customers. The space is attractive with three tables for 4 and a few counter seats inside. There is more seating outside than inside. They do have password protected wi-fi. There is ample parking in the lot.

Staff up front were very friendly and helpful, and I think I would have gotten more bang for my buck eating in. It felt like takeout portions may have been a bit lighter when it came to their chips and salsa. Prices felt a bit high across the menu, though. I got a steak fajita burrito with rice and refried beans and it was solid. It had an excellent tortilla. I’ll be back once or twice more but I don’t know if I could justify making it a regular spot unless I can find a gem on the menu.

I really wanted to like this place, really really wanted to like it because I pass this corner several times a week. The food actually was fairly good, a little bland, for instance, the cheese in the cheese enchilada just tasted like rubber. The portions are small. There were just so many problems today with our meal. It was almost $80 for three adults and a child. That’s a little high for Denver. my husband didn’t get his corn tortillas until he went to ask for them and then he had to argue with them that he had indeed ordered them and didn’t get them. We’re talking about four corn tortillas. I didn’t get my guacamole that I ordered with my enchilada. I didn’t even notice till I left. The tacos are crazy overpriced. The tortillas are good though. We had to ask for hot sauce and they don’t have any Cholula and for me that is sad as I really love the stuff. They have their own house hot sauce one is insanely hot and the other is a little bit hot but otherwise tasteless also. When I say tasteless, I mean bland just bland. The ordering process is confused with self ordering at one end of the counter and while one would expect the finished order to come out at the other end they hand it to you over the counter and over the order screen. Doesn’t make sense. One of the reviews said there were a lot of high chairs, but I didn’t see any high chairs inside. We could’ve used one. The cilantro rice was good and the beans were good but a little runny. The lettuce was very crispy fresh. I have my doubts that this place can make it in Denver unless they make some changes. There were plenty of customers, but it’s still new. We’ll see if they come back. I think taco Star has...

We were so excited to have another walkable restaurant option in Virginia Village but sadly, they have lots of things to work on.

First, ordering is incredibly confusing. 2 locations: one for to-go the other for dine-in. The to-go option is at the front door so people order and then stand RIGHT THERE to wait for their food. This creates a cluster of people at the entrance doorway. The to-go order completion time frame is also quite slow which adds to the bottleneck.

The other big problem was incorrect orders and really expensive pricing. A "large" portion of meat nachos was almost $20 and yet it was a regular sized portion (i.e., not shareable) AND missing the meat. I paid $20 for a pile of chips, cheese and black beans. No thank you. The veggie burrito, while decent sized, was not customized as requested and was weirdly crunchy and mushy at the same time and sadly, lacking in any flavor...the only flavor came from adding extra salsa.

I hope this place can figure it out. This neighborhood needs more walkable food options and it would be great if Tia Taqueria...
