We normally have a great experience, not this time. Went to the Derby location for the buffet this evening. It was 6:50 pm. The sign says the buffet goes until 7:30. Usually plenty of time. We had our pizza, no salad because the iceberg lettuce was brown and gross. Not a huge deal but it should have never been used. Then we asked about chocolate chip dessert pizza at right around the 7:20 mark. The cook acknowledged but a girl in the kitchen reacted as if we were out of line for asking such a question. We then sat and waited thinking they would surely make it since there was only a couple of sad looking cinnamon and apple pieces, well past their edible time frame. At 7:40 my wife asked again and the cook said "no, sorry we are about to close." Mind you, there were 4 of us which was over $65 and we also added a tip. Regardless of the time, if you sell a buffet, it should be the same quality and availability that is made for everyone. Don't know if a manager was on-site, unless it was one of the teenagers we saw. The girl in the back had longer dark hair and was not one of the nice girls who are usually running the register or cleaning the dining areas. This is completely unacceptable and a shame to have this type of service under the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe went into this establishment very close to closing time & they were kind enough to take our order, so the staff gets props for that. The food was another place that uses cracker crust or a thin crust, I don't know what it's called, maybe that's the default and I could have gotten a different crust but alas it was thin, under colored on the bottom and sort of crumbly. It is not our style & the toppings were not that great. I think that's a chain place so take that as it. Back to the servers they were nice enough to take our order, but they pretty much did not interact with us or the other people in there. They were very studious in their closing of the shop, cleaning, preparing food. It just felt like a grind crew. The atmosphere was also weird. Apparently there's a buffet so it's popular for that but it's right next to a Dollar general so it looks a little frumpy, and they have coin machines or like coin vendors in there that give away large prices items & people were at that pumping money in & screaming so it was definitely not a place I'd see eating a nice meal at, I'm sure it's fine for take away as long as it's your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhoa! We were quite surprised by how good our take out pizza was today. We decided to take a chance, and as it turns out, not all Gambino's Pizza locations are greatest equal. This was our first time visiting the Derby restaurant. We ordered a take home pizza that we waited for. They have a buffet which looked well maintained. There were fresh tasting ingredients on our pizza. Not too greasy, cooked right, smelled great, and everything tasted great too. One of the better pizzas we have had in awhile. We will definitely be re-ordering the next time we are in a pizza mood. Perhaps, we will try their lasagna especially if it's as good as their pizza at the Derby location. Their staff works hard and made sure that everyone was well taken care of. The guy in the back who took our pizza out of the oven and boxed it, came out to the front to give us our pizza right away. Nothing better than getting it fresh out...
