Maria's mexican food — Restaurant in Des Moines

Have not been disappointed yet. I have visited multiple times. Very nice people. I've dined-in and carried-out. They also have a drive-thru. Try their Big Tacos, they're served with a very generous portion of meat. They have all my favorites; carne asada, lengua, chorizo, to name a few. I've had the lengua/tongue tacos...delicious! My picky-eater son gave the thumbs up on them too. He takes advantage of the extra tortilla to make more tacos from the filling that falls out! The Carne Asada Burrito in my #1 Combo Platter, raised my eyebrows, it was also good sized. Its fillings included guac and pico to compliment the asada meat. Very tasty. The salsa bar is awesome. I recommend the Taquera Level 6, slap some on your beans and rice in addition to your taco or burrito. Wash it all down with an ice cold Large Horchata and if you have any room, or even if you don't, top it all off with a Churro. I do plain/traditional but they also do flavors. I've been and will be back.

Update: Been back and been back. The #19 is the absolute best value in town. It teeters on the edge of being a food challenge. Hurry up and get one before they figure it out. Still washing it down with Horchata, but I was eyeballing the Pineapple Jarritos in a bottle. And, still insist you try the Taquera, heat level 6, from...

Ridiculous, I have a pick up order already paid for, they refuse to answer the phone. Food is cold, they just keep ignoring or picking up and hanging up.

Oh so after about 15 calls they finally answered and said their phone doesn’t work, ok then why did my call get answered and hung up on. They initially said wait in the drive thru for It but we stated we’d already been waiting an hour for the call in order, then they said ok we will open the door to give it to you. I ordered delivery last night and was extremely disappointed with both the food and the service. I paid for chips and queso, but received busted-up chips and no queso at all. I also ordered two steak burritos and instead got two small steak tacos.

When I called to have the missing and incorrect items fixed, I was told I’d have to come pick them up myself, even though I paid for delivery. They refused to bring me the correct order or issue a refund.
