McDonald's — Restaurant in Des Moines

I have been to this McDonald's 3 or 4 times in the past year and this will be my last. They normally have a longer than desired wait time for drive thru, usually 5 minutes, but tonight was probably more than 9. I also was the second car to pull up and they weren't busy. There were like 3 cars in the actually parking lot. I ordered a small diet Coke and medium fries. I finally get to the pick-up window, where a lady tries to hand me a large Coke and says "large Coke and Big Mac." Took me a sec cause this was obviously not what I ordered. I tell her what I ordered, she looks at her screen, says she doesn't have it on there. I then hand her my receipt and at the same time a manager comes up and points to the screen and says "there it is". So I wait another minute or so, she comes back with my fries and tries to give me the large Coke she originally tried to give me and is like "you're just going to get this Coke", like she was doing me a favor. I mean, yeah it would have been nice sis if it was what I ordered, but I just wanted a diet. So she goes away for another minute and comes back and says they are out of diet Coke, do you want this Coke? I could give you Hawaiian Punch.😑🙃. So I just say "no, thank you" and she's like are you sure? and I'm kinda done at this point since I've spent 20ish minutes of my life waiting for and order of fries and diet Coke that I paid for and am, at this point, not getting. So I say no, nevermind and pull off. No one offered me my money back and I never got my receipt back from when I have it to her in the first place. I didn't even go back for my dollar cause I would have paid to stop the madness. I ended up going down the street to QT (shout out for coming in clutch btw) and got a diet Coke there. Normally I would just take the survey and all on the receipt, but like I said, never got it back. NEVER going back to this location. The 6th Ave McDonald's is way better. They are busier and still faster than this...

Ordered through drive through this past weekend and the lady who was taking orders would NOT let me get a word in. I had a large order and after every item she kept asking “anything else?” Super fast. Instead of just letting me list out everything. Asked to pull forward the MOMENT I got to the second window. I don’t know if locations are trying to meet “times” but why make people pull to the side the second after they order? Got food, went home, and they completely missed a sandwich. Went back with the receipt and was told it was in the bag when it was clearly NOT. A worker had told me I was LYING and they put it in the bag. They clearly put it in someone else’s bag because it was not in mine. After giving me the sandwich I came back for, it was the WRONG ONE. Communication, staff actions, and customer service are so poor. I wasted an entire hour, ordering, coming home, going back, and then explaining to staff what happened and then was accused of lying? I don’t have time to lie about an extra sandwich but with the costs of food I wasn’t not going to get what they clearly forgot. I went through the drive thru and ordered the #7. Which is the 10 pc nuggets meal with a large drink, large fries and a Mcdouble for my daughter and I. We parked in the parking lot to eat only to discover that there were no fries in our bag. I went into the store to explaine what happened, looking at my large fries sitting in the fry station. The young lady helping me said "That was my bad"! Another coworker tried to put the fries that had been sitting there in a bag for me, which the young girl told him "No" because fresh fries were coming out of the fryer. That was the only thing that got them the 1 ⭐ for service. McDonald's tastes the same, but honestly the workers just don't seem to care. This is what I have experienced at many locations. Check your bag before you leave is my advice, but be respectful of other people in the drive thru line. Especially if you ordered a lot of food. Just pull into a parking spot or off to the side.
