The food was on point (drinks not so much), but cleanliness was an issue. .
Food was amazing (limited vegetarian options though) I asked if the orange juice was freshly squeezed. I was told that they had both, freshly squeezed and not. In my head I'm like okkk. So I asked for the freshly squeezed. Definitely not freshly squeezed. If anything it was the powdered OJ. I still drank it. Only issue at the very end that I realized is there was a lipstick stain on the cup. Definitely not mines because I was drinking from a straw. (yuck!) Coffee was served warm, not like fresh hot. When I was eating my food, I'm pretty sure I saw a small cut of bacon or so it looked it like so I tried not to think about it and pretend it was crispy piece of egg. (I don't eat pork).
Update: 3 stars to 1 star! They are NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY!
Went there again with the kids recently and it was not crowded inside (which is great right?). After waiting for 10 mins of service, a couple came through and sat in the booth next to us and got immediate service, water, coffee and utensils. We got up and left. We told the front staff, guess no one wanted to provide us service and walked out. No apologies, no nothing as we walked out. We assumed it's because we came in with our children and perhaps the waiters didn't want to deal with a mess or something. Never again Sunny Street Cafe! We ended up at...
Read moreThe only saving grace of this place is that it is a rather nice interior. It’s very bright and clean.
Now on to the food. This place is expensive with mediocre food and small portion sizes (a side of toast is a single slice of bread, for example). The food came out wrong, so overcooked it was just shy of burned and at the same time stone cold.
I don’t know what was going on with the butter. It was almost like they tried to make their own butter (or at least whip it themselves) but the texture of the butter was appalling. It was cream separated from the butter (so parts of it were really runny, parts of it were like regular butter, and parts of it were disconcertingly chunky).
We were seated almost immediately and waited about an hour for our food. We placed a to-go order with the food we got for dine in. After finishing the meal we had to wait another half-hour for that, despite ordering it ahead of time so it would be ready to go when we were done eating.
The service was pleasant and the restaurant environment was rather nice (bright, open, and clean), but the food was quite awful and over priced for the quality and the portion sizes. Definitely not a place to repeat...
Read moreWe stopped here twice- once because we were curious about this "new" place, once again to confirm our first visit. On our first visit, wait staff seemed to be missing. We even overheard someone ask a staff member about getting their server so they could get their bill; when the staff member responded that they could just go to the front and pay, two other tables nearby got up and left. When our food arrived (after 45 minutes), the sauce on both of our dishes had broken, a classic indication it had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite some time. When we returned, everything was under-seasoned and needed salt and pepper. The server was missing but everyone else seemed to stop by every few minutes to try to clear dishes. It almost made it feel rushed even though we were one of a few tables in the restaurant. Very disappointed, we love good brunch places and this wasn't it. Add a little seasoning to your dishes, train your servers better, perhaps this would be a great restaurant. The foundation is there; you just haven't finished building...
