Church's Texas Chicken — Restaurant in DeSoto

I want to paint a picture for you. I hope this review gets put in the hands of a food inspector. Today at approximately 3 PM, I took my son to Church’s chicken. When we arrived, there was one of the employees coming outside of the back door with a large bag of trash for the dumpster. This employee, who you see in the picture had on one pair of gloves, and a plastic apron. This same employee walked back from the dumpster, started knocking on the door and pressing down the handle with those same gloves. As continue to wait for someone to open the door, which no one ever did so she had to walk around, she scratched in her hair with her left glove. I sat and observed her gloves and aprons that she was wearing, because I wanted to make sure that those were changed as she was going back into the kitchen. As we pulled closer to the speaker, the door was open. This same employee, who you see in the picture was with a mop, mopping the floor. At that time she also had on gloves in the same apron. I told my son OK it doesn’t matter because she is doing cleaning. Then I wondered why would someone that is cleaning have on serving gloves and a serving apron. We ordered at the speaker, went around to the window, and we saw her making food. The picture that you see here is her making the sandwich that my son ordered. You also see her wiping off sweat from her forehead while she was standing above, the area of her making the sandwich. We brought it up to the woman in the window, and she spoke to the woman in Spanish. The woman then left to go behind the scenes, where we can see her. The manager or other woman started making our sandwich. However, this is so alarming to me, they just played it as if it was a normal issue. To top that off, there were construction workers walking around the kitchen uniform, not sanitary, looking very dirty with paint and things on them, so when she saw him come around the woman that was taking her money fleed him off like a fly because she knew that we had already complained about the sanitation of the kitchen. They look on the cashier space was either embarrassment or she just knew I was about to eat them up in this review. Visited this establishment today, 3/8/25 and ordered one 3 pc mixed (2wings, drumstick) and 1 3 pc all white (2 wings and a breast). The cashier charged more for the mixed box than the all-white box. Menu did not stay that the 3 pc mixed had to be specific pcs. Requested refund and she refused to refund $26.24 for items not received. Another customer happened to be waiting to order agreed that I should be refunded since I had not received the orde and the menu stated a different price than what was charged. Employee continued to refuse to refund $26.24 and begin to argue with another employee that stated that my refund should be issued as requested Manager not onsite but belligerent employee called manager when I stated that I would call police if my refund was not issued and witnessed offered to use his cell to call police. Employee begin to lie to manager on phone stating that I was “mad” and that drive thru customer was also requesting a refund. Employee was rude, loud, obnoxious, a liar, disrespectful and out of order in addition to being a poor example for any establishment. I finally received a refund after spending 1 hour and 19 minutes requesting my refund. Note that the food was never placed in reach of my acceptance. Upon review of the paper receipt is when I questioned the price and why did a mixed box of chicken be priced more than an all-white box of chicken??? The rude employee dropped a drumstick on the floor while preparing orders and another employee picked it up, placed it in the trash and begin to prepare orders - no gloves or hand washing !!! I made a complaint to Church’s Chicken Corporate.

First impressions are lasting impressions and I will not visit this establishment again.

UPDATE 3/14/25 Called 3 times to corporate and made complaint re incident. Promised that complaint/issue would be escalated and contact made within 24-48 hours. As of today no one has reached out to me regarding issue. Do Not Patronize Church’s Chicken , Hampton...

If I could give out 0 stars I would. Just given them one star is really a blessing the manager Mia.B she poorly handled a situation that could had been fix her and the yellow teeth employer Erica was very nonchalant very unapologetic about an order I told them I wanted fresh chicken she said 27 mins I said fine she said pull to the side . The manager was outside the whole time and knew we was waiting she was took busy talking on the phone and smoking ….it took them an hour and they still didn’t drop the chicken which is lazy and crazy and tried to blame the cook saying she can’t understand English… the poor excuses they made was sad. this churches chicken never is busy so they keep old food out to give and expect you to be ok with it . They need better management and employees for sure ……. Need help with...
