Amicci's Pizza — Restaurant in Detroit

5/30/2018 Ordered a large cheese pizza and an atomic nacho: pizza was literally cold, as if it had been sitting on a table as a reject order then sold to the next person that orders a cheese pizza...the dogh was raw and pizza was as thin as cardboard. The atomic nacho had a giant tortilla with a small pile of cold meat on one corner and a small pile of un-melted cold cheese on another corner and a pile of crushed nachos in a corner with giant quarter cut tomatoes in another corner...all of which was covered with lettuce that was spotted with a red'ish/purple'ish something, like old or spoiled lettuce. All the food was cold. However, the staff were very polite, despite the rude-frustration, in my tone, on the phone, of yet, another disappointed experience, with Amicci's Pizza. I've lived in Southwest Detroit my whole life and watched Amicci's Pizza turn from excellent to horrible food, year after year. Now, Amicci's Pizza seems to have been on a 5 year streak of strait garbage food. Frankly, I've given up, no longer will I order from Amicci's, having a false hope that maybe, just maybe they will have a decent staff tonight and I'll actually get some decent hot food, just to be let down again. I give 1 star, in this review, only because tonight, Amicci's, for the first time, in the past 5 years of disappointment, actually delivered my money back. I will be sure to post on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, warning people to not waste their time or money on Amicci's Pizza, located on west Vernor Highway... I will let all my family, friends and colleagues know about the deterioration of Amicci's and as soon as I'm done writing this review, I'll upload a video on YouTube, about Amicci's Pizza, in Southwest Detroit and the decline of quality food they've had since 1981. Please consider closing down or relocating so a real Italian pizza restaurant can take over that building. Yours truly,...

Normally I love their pizza but the last two times I've been disappointed and frankly overcharged for what I'm getting. I generally order the large two topping pizza pick up special for $12. But I only order it with extra cheese no other toppings bc extra cheese is my additional topping. The last time I ordered a extra cheese pizza, I got home me and my son took a bite and I immediately realized it was just a regular cheese pizza. I took it back and they remade it perfectly. So here we go again today. I pick it up. And again it looks suspect as a regular cheese pizza bc I can see the dough underneath and the sauce. But I don't have my glasses on so I'm thinking maybe it's me. Nope, I get home with my glasses and it's just one layer of cheese again! Regular plain cheese pizza cost $8 maybe; so to charge me $12 for a regular cheese pizza I need whoever is making pizzas in the back fired bc they are not reading the tickets or they just don't care. Extra cheese means just that - extra cheese please! The Only reason I didn't take it back was bc my son was hungry and I was too tired from work to drive back. I love the owner but the generation z's in the back are messing up my experience. I'll give it one more chance and then I'm going up the block. There are two other options within a mile of this location. Maybe I need to give them a try bc my loyalty needs to be earned. Initially, I wasn't sure if Amicci's Pizza was a genuine pizza place because it didn't have the typical names like Joe, Ray, or Luigi. I was pleasantly surprised to find that their pizza is among the best I've had in Detroit, MI, and I'm a lifelong New Yorker! I've been ordering from them for years now, usually getting the same thing – a large plain cheese pizza. They always deliver with remarkable consistency. The crust is slightly well-done, the cheese and tomato sauce are fresh, and the crust has so much flavor. While their BBQ chicken pizza is good, the sweet sauce can be a bit overwhelming after a few slices. I also never miss ordering their tiramisu, which is my weakness.
