Horrible customer service! After spending over $60 at this place, there were a few things wrong with our order: didn’t smother our pork chops, didn’t give us our cornbread, didn’t give us the cake we paid for. We called and they told us we could come get the cake before they closed or come the next day. Since we don’t live close we opted to just pick it up while we were still in the area visiting family. When we arrived I asked the young lady at the register if they would be able to do anything for inconveniencing us (driving back out in the rain and having to eat food that wasn’t prepared how we ordered it and paid for it). She told me she could give us the cake but we would have to come back the next day to get another pork chop dinner. I mentioned that we did not live close so I asked instead of giving us another meal tomorrow could they just give us another dessert (since they were almost closing and didn’t have any other food ready). She initially said no but then said she would ask the manager. She came back out and told me no we would have to come back tomorrow. This was really ridiculous considering the meal is over $10 and the dessert would have been under $5. She said she couldn’t do that so I asked to speak to the “manager”. A man came to the register who turned out to be the owner. He was apparently on a call and seemed irritated by me asking for a solution to the inconvenience. When I explained that my order was messed up and I was willing to just take a $4 cake instead of coming back the next day for a whole meal, he told me no and said I wasn’t going to get anything because we ate the food. I told him that the smothered pork chops were for my diabetic grandmother and she had to eat so I didn’t have time to bring the order back and get it fixed. He told me he wasn’t going to go “back and forth” with me. I was outdone. He had no intention of fixing the order (even the next day). Regardless of whether or not the food was eaten, it was not prepared the way we ordered it—which means this business expects for its customers to just eat whatever they are given instead of what they order. To me, it was just the principle, he didn’t even try to rectify the situation. He was unwilling to even fix the order the next day as his employee offered. He was super arrogant bragging about how long he’s been in business. After this treatment I’m sure this business won’t last just like other restaurants that come and go because the owner doesn’t value its customers.
To top it off, the food wasn’t even all that great. The pork chops were the only thing that were good. Mac and cheese had no seasoning, and very little cheese, way too much egg or something causing curdled lumps. The greens were not seasoned, but of you add a lot of hot sauce you can get by. The dressing was undercooked and too grainy from cornbread and had too much sage. The yams were descent but honestly how can you mess up yams?! And the portions for the sides that came with the meal were skimpy.
When I told the owner I would be leaving a review he was very cocky and unbothered, telling me to go ahead he’s been in business for over 20 years.
Don’t waste your time with this place. It’s hard to find good soul food but trust me this...
Read moreMy first experience. And was my worst experience. As a Black person I try to patronize black owned businesses. On March 6th 2020 I came in to the establishment with my legally blind friend. We waited patiently on line for about thirty minutes. My friend orderd first and it was side orders of okra, dressing and gravy on the side which was charged extra and black eyed peas. It was chaotic and unorganized to say the least but I still wait patiently. It people (customers) complaining about their wait and missing food items. We eventually got our food and left not realizing until we got to our destination that my friend who is legally blind were missing her food. We called and there was no answer. So we came back which was a drive . We asked politely to spearhead to a manager requesting to get the missing items. A young lady came and stated that ok we apologize it was a shift change and miscommunication and that she should make us a new order of the same items. Then a older lady came behind her and said no we can only give you what you was missing and she started asking what was missing. This was after a resolution was already established. My legally blind friend became frustrated and the older lady stated it a sign that says check your bag before you leave. My friend stated she legally blind. The order lady took my friend receipt and the food and marched to the back and refunded the money back without my friend knowing and left her with no food. Its frustrating because if I was to go to a white established place they wouldn't have treated no one like that. And if that black lady worked for a white person it wouldn't have went down like that. My friend wanted fresh food that she paid for, for her resolution instead she was treated like a dog because how the older lady talked to my friend was unacceptable. On top of that she was the owner of Mr. Bs. I thought to myself if she is the owner and she treat legally blind customers like that how do she treat other customers and staff. I just want this establishment to understand that they have to treat there customers better and that this was a terrible situation that could have been handled better. My friend depends on establishment like yours to eat because she does not cook . She also mentioned she would catch the bus just to get food here and patronize Mr. Bs. and that was very unfair how you...
Read moreGood & busy Soul Food. But when waiting on food after it runs out. They should call orders based on order of your #. Basically call the order up based on order received. Don't call orders out of number sequence if you're waiting on food that has to be cooked. I did not like that my order was Turkey chops they ran out of turkey jobs. So a lot of customers but still waiting for fried turkey chops. When the turkey chops were done they call the numbers backwards instead of calling the first number of the order that was received for the turkey chops. And then when I step to the window to inquire about my order. They got a attitude and one girl said that this is not a fast food restaurant you have to wait for the food. I know you have to wait for the food but basically how are you going to call the numbers backwards once the food is done. And I end up being the last one getting my order in which I was the first one that ordered the turkey chops. Yes I had a problem with that cuz it wasn't right. And I'm fully aware that it is not a fast food restaurant but when I'm waiting on food to be cooked and which no one announced that the fried turkey chops had to be cooked to catch up the orders. I expect to be the first one to receive my order simple as that. That's common customer service. And no tip...
