Summertown Fresh Bar — Restaurant in Detroit

We really like the food here. But the last three times we’ve come here they’ve messed up the coffee order. Today, 7/12, we wanted to try again, so we order one of their coffee’s hot. The lady said we can’t do that, and we clarified “it does say on the menu we can’t have it hot”. The lady at the front said “oh yeah” then walked away.

We got our order and the coffee came out on ice. We then brought it up that we asked for it hot (they also got our milk request wrong) and when we mentioned that the lady said “I remember” rolled her eyes and walked away to make another one. We finally got our coffee and this is what it looked like (see picture). Also it was cold, just not on the ice. It was very obvious that she just strained out the ice, put it in a cup for warm coffee and sent us on our merry way. Refusing to make something that’s literally on the menu. The staff did not wash his hands after handling the screen and became very upset when I asked for him to put on gloves before handling my salad with his hands. Which they literally made my salad with hands and not utensils to put the ingredients in a container. He then touched a door handles and box to go back and make my salad with the same gloves on. The look on my face causes the employee to ask me if I have any questions. I explain to her my concerns about what I was witnessing and she says that everything is clean. Even the cardboard box that he just opened with the same gloves on before making my salad. I don’t recommend coming here until they know the importance of cleaning hands before and after...

Great atmosphere, has a lot of yummy vegan options. Healthy. There aren't a lot of healthy take out options in Detroit so i appreciate that about this place.

The downside is just that it's a really expensive place... smoothies are about $10, appetizer size meals are even more. I spent $30 there and still walked away hungry unfortunately. Is inflation really THAT bad?

I get that businesses have to make money to stay afloat but it's just not really practical to eat here with prices like that. I can't give them 5 stars as a result.

I don't know what the solution is, maybe a discount for locals and/or regulars? I personally can afford it but i doubt a lot of other...
