Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Detroit

0 stars. They can never get anything right. Island greens come green not pink no matter what u add to it. I don’t think these children have ever seen a color wheel in their lives! 2nd time they’ve messed up my order. Adding red fruits doesn’t turn a dark smoothie into a light color. The smoothie only came with the extra fruit I ordered and was pink and was missing the greens, bananas, and whatever else comes in an island green. Let this establishment close down like Arby’s and Subway!! Not worth it. Don’t spend your hard earned money here for kids to mess over your food and tell u that it’s correct when clearly it’s not!! Foolishness. Running a circus up there. Whoever is hiring does not care about this business at all or the people they serve. With food like this the blenders are probably still dirty after each wash. I’ll stick with going to the suburbs for my smoothies. Last time I visited I had to watch and listen to the manager chew out the staff for not completing orders correctly. Visited the store 06/07/2025 at 2:20pm, I was asked by the drive-thru clerk to pull up and someone will bring our my order. No one ever came after 5 cars had left (approx 6 mins) I had to go inside the store and ask to speak with manger. I was never greeted. The manager lacked customer service skills I was never greeted, or asked how can I help it. She came to me and stared guess this was her way of saying how can she help she had no name tag on. Once I explained what happened she informed the other staff to make my order. At that time requested a refund. She showed no accountability and did not care about the inconvenience. She even asked me to go back to my car bring the smoothie back in for a full refund of my meal.

I have been to locations outside of Detroit and I must say its truly sad and disappointing that we have to receive this type of treatment in Detroit I know the staff are not represententing the company’s customer mission...

I pulled in right up to the order box, waited 3-4 min before I heard a VERY faint voice saying something. I asked for a repeat and it came out somewhat louder but my passenger couldn't hear ANY of the order-taker's speech! The drink was a straw-bana-choc thing. I asked for white chocolate and heard they were out of white chocolate. So I asked for just half the amount of chocolate. After several back-and-forths where the order-taker appeared to be completely unable to process "half the choc", I pulled to the pay window, waited again for someone to appear to collect the money (there were 4-5 employees visible when I pulled in), and the drink was made with NO chocolate! So while I'm sure everybody loves Tropical Smoothie, I'm also sure I'll not return to that particular location. No courtesy, no professionalism, no pride in work, and no quality control. Why go where you're ignored and poorly treated and given...
