should be a negative one.......Went there for lunch (around 2pm) because a coworker suggested it. I was disappointed that the place seemed like it hadn't been updated since the 80s and didn't seem particularly clean. Unfortunately, this was not the only thing that seemed old.... The food seemed like it had been out way too long. There was film over the "soul food" in the case, the cakes looked old too. I met the owner but I didn't mention it to him because I wanted to see how my fish (perch) came out. Sometimes "dumps" have great food. I was disappointed! There was no seasoning on the fish at all, and I've had perch my entire life and it never tasted like this. It reminded me of that "just spoiled taste you can have when fish has been in the fridge too long and you probably shouldn't cook it. Yeah that was it! The fries that came with the meal were fine, but can you actually mess up french fries? I also ordered the gumbo and one sniff of it and a tepid taste revealed a tart flavor that said it could follow my fish into the garbage. Now maybe it was the bad timing and this just happened to me, but I can't give a second chance. To the owner: I suggest is that you make the place look nice, make sure the food is actually fresh and take a risk and throw a little seasoning on your offerings. Just because your spot is in the hood, doesn't mean it should be substandard in appearance or product. BTW. My co-worker who came with me and recommended the place was so disappointed at his own order that he apologized to me. No seasoning and he couldn't finish his either....I guess it wasn't...

Bought 2 orange roughy dinners. Fish was good with the lemon pepper. Their tartar sauce is delicious. Cleanliness not so good , the place is dirty and smells really bad. I almost ran out on my over the phone other when I walked in. The stench was a huge turn off and place was filthy. But I knew that wasn’t the right thing to do. The food was actually good though and seemed to be fresh. Fish and seafood display needs lots of love and cleaning. Clean the place and the displays that would be so much better for business. I was really turned off by the stench and dirt. I will give another chance, but if the store is dirty and stinky as it was today, I will not patronize this business again. Please just clean it up food good. But place is filthy. Sorry for this review but I just tell the truth. Customer service...

I always get my fish here. I don't care for there batter they use. I purchased a bag of corn meal seasoning for them to dry fish in.I got my fish home and long behold it was fried in there batter. I called vergotes a was told he did use the corn meal I purchased.I disagreed with him. I try my own fish I know the text corn meal give to fish.owner did give me another fish n fried it in the corn meal.I did receive an apology, do not like being lied to.I took pictures Cleary the first batch wasn't cooked in corn meal.If a mistake was made and admitted to me-I can deal with that and would have kept the fish.but when I know it's wrong-I don't like...
