So your girl's traveling again and this time I'm in Detroit, Michigan, I come to visit some family and on Sunday we came here for the live bands and good atmosphere plus which is a bonus. One of my cousins play saxophone and enjoys and participates in the live bands.🎷 That day, I was so glad we got there in time to get the last table, which was right up front in front of the band.😊 the live band sounded amazing and the drummer's wife song, and she was great Simone. They also had a session where people could get up if they played the instrument or could play the instruments that were there. They gave them a chance to play and jam out. Also, they gave people chances to sing if they wanted to. Boy, did they😄 Ok so let's get to the food and drinks. The food was knock it out the park good.😋 I ordered some artichoke and spinach dip, and one of my cousins ordered steak bites. My other cousin she ordered the chicken Alfredo. Another one of my cousins ordered the Bang bang shrimp(those were really good). My cousin's son ordered a burger and fries and my cousin who played the saxophone. He ordered a fish po boy. As far as the drinks go, the one that had the steak bites, she ordered a long island. I ordered an adult Caprice Sun with absolute vodka. My cousin who played the saxophone ordered a blue moon. The place was packed like sardines but a very fun and enjoyable crowd. That I could tell likes to have a lot of fun. By the time we left and I walked outside. I couldn't hear anything, and I felt like everybody was talking very loudly. Lol, We had a blast. So thank you, woodbridge pub, for making us feel welcome😉 By the way, if it's your first time there, please get there early and if you're sitting at a big table, make sure you tell the owner that you have people coming. Because he told my cousin we had 5 minutes before we had to move. The rest of our family was parking so they got there on time. He does not...
Read moreI so want to love this place. It's my neighborhood watering hole. The location is great, and the vibe (people and atmosphere) is excellent too. You can't beat real singers and live music walking distance from your home.
The bar staff, though, is awful. I understand that people often don't take care of their tabs, such as bartenders, etc. However, every customer deserves good customer service from the outset.
Alyssa doesn't have the personality for bartending. She is fast-talking and rushed when taking your order. But at the same time, she takes her time servicing the bar. Bartending is an art, for sure, and also a challenging job. However, she repeats the 20% gratuity rule, which is now written and displayed on the bar along with the tables, over and over, as if you're not going to leave a tip.
A beer, three shots, and a spin dip were $75. I didn't have a meal, and this was a bit expensive. As she was giving me my bill, she said, " I didn't add the 20% because you're cashing out before the performance starts, so you don't have to leave 20%," But said it with a passive-aggressive tone. At this point, honestly, I don't want to leave anything for her. But I kept quiet and still left 20%.
With the cost of things in general continuing to go up, the service needs to match as well. I understand she was the only one working the bar on a busy Jazz Sunday, but the tone and attitude were off-putting. I don't want to make it a race thing, but I didn't hear her emphasizing the tipping policy repeatedly to the white customers. I can admit I may have missed it.
My first experience here (last summer) was similar; I came on a Wednesday after work, and it was quiet around 4:30, but the bartender didn't even address me for 15 minutes. They say the third time is a charm....
Read moreThe aesthetic of this place is great. The same cannot be said for the service or our experience. We made a reservation for 20 nearly a week in advance and confirmed counts multiple times. Our entire party was assigned a single server and despite the manager greeting us, no support was provided by her. For a 7 pm reservation we were 15 minutes early for, I did not receive my drink until after 8. We had to make multiple requests for water. The waitress intentionally staggered our food orders going in to the kitchen causing our entire party delays to our next location. Some of us did not receive our food until after 9! Any requests for straws, additional drinks, silverware etc were met with annoyance or confusion. It took over 45 minutes to receive our checks and cash out. At least one member of the party was not provided correct change, even after making multiple requests. There waa no toilet paper in one of the bathrooms and three members of our party were told that they, the guests, had to go OUTSIDE to get some! In the over three hours we were there, the manager did not reappear to check on us once, nor did any other staff attempt to support the poorly trained waitress. If they had, or if we could find them, we would have made them aware of the issues and asked for support staff. We felt under valued and ignored. It should also be noted that the restaurant and bar were not exceptionally busy for much of our time there, making our experience further inexcusable. The food portions were quite small and the chips that come with a $12-$15 dollar burger commercial. The new ownership has some serious work to do with...
