This may be the worst experience I ever had eating out at a restaurant. I arrived at 5:45pm. There was no hostess, so no one even noticed I was there until 6:00pm. I was told that because they were short staffed, I would have to eat in the bar. I was not happy about this. It was the last day of my vacation, and I was looking forward to a quiet relaxed meal. I sat at the bar, it was noisy, and I got worse as the more alcohol the customers drank, but I was trying to make the best of the situation.
It took forever for the bar tender to take my drink order, even longer to take my dinner order, and even longer to get her to refill my drink. She finally took my order, but I did not get my meal until 7:15pm. Judging by how cold the fries were, the food had been sitting out for about 20-30 minutes before anyone bothered to bring it out to me. I was going to complain, but as soon as the plate had the bar my server was gone, and besides I was not going to wait another hour for fresh fries. The server was M.I.A. so I was chumping on the ice from Coke throughout the meal because there was no one to refill my drink. At 7:45pm she finally asked me if I was ready for the check. I said I wanted a slice of Pecan Pie. After all, the was the main reason I was there. It was the last day of my vacation and the clerk at the hotel told me how great the deserts at Sanford’s were, so I had saved the best for last (or so I thought). She went to kitchen to put in my order and eventually came back to tell me that they were out of Brownies, Pecan Pie, Cheesecake, and all the deep-fried items. Well, if you look at the menu that is everything on the dessert menu and now it is so late any other restaurant in town where I could have gotten a nice dessert is now closing (even the Dairy Queen closes at 8:00pm), I may never be in the area ever again, but if I am, I will never eat at this...
Read moreWe ate at Sanford prior to the ‘ownership/management’ change that happened recently. Yesterday, 10/28, we took some family there visiting from out of town, based on our prior experience. Unfortunately, it was not what we had expected. I will give credit to the cook who cooked the burgers. The two ordered at our table were eaten and enjoyed. There was also a middle aged man serving other patrons that appeared to be quick and working hard. Unfortunately the soup and salad order was a major let down. The salad was all white stems and honestly just pathetic. Sadly, our waiter boasted that he made it. The soup, cold. Like, out of the fridge cold. When asked for it to be heated, the waiter looked confused, took it and left, and returned with cold soup. Drink service was sad. Our waiter appeared to be new and was extremely nervous. We attempted to chat him up and ease his anxiety but that didn’t work. He was also training another young kid. Inexperienced and lost, he was also training someone. ?? Lastly, as much as I don’t want to sound stereotypical….the staff as a whole looked rough. Everyone had tattoos on their arms, neck, and faces. Not just one, multiple. A few of them looked as if they had been out all night enjoying themselves, and rolled out of the car to come to work the next morning. Just disheveled. And don’t get me wrong, I have no issues with tattoos but this group, honestly, looked like they were all recently released from prison and were working their court mandated jobs with not a care in the world. Not sure what this new management takeover included but that was not the luncheon we had envisioned. Will not...
Read moreI have never written a review for a restaurant. My husband and I were here years ago and it was fantastic. We don't get over to Dickinson often, so tonight was our first trip back. It started with the front doors being locked. I called to see if they were open and they said, "yes, we had a water leak at the front door, so you have to come in through the bar." I currently have a cast on my leg, so navigating through a poorly shoveled area to get to the door was tough. We got in and seated, the server came over and took our drink order. He was incredibly annoyed to be there and it showed. It took a long time for him to comeback and get our order. I ordered chicken fried steak and it was terrible, the breading didn't stay on and the meat was gray, I also had a bloody mary that was literally V8 juice. He forgot my coleslaw, so i had to request it. The black eyed peas were beyond disgusting. My husband ordered the all you can eat ribs and he said the first plate wasn't bad, the second plate was horrible. The server was hit and miss....he was attentive for a minute, then we couldn't find him. He brought the bill and didn't come back so we had to track down a bartender to pay our bill. The table next to us was dirty, full of dishes when we came in, and still dirty when we left. We passed 5 other dirty tables on the way out. I wish I could give no stars. This is the worst restaurant experience i have ever had and we will...
