This seems like the theme of the restaurant. The building seems nice and homey, the wait staff is friendly, and the place actually seems welcoming. The one missing piece is the food. On a recommendation from our hotel we decided to try out the local country kitchen and I wish we would have gone somewhere else. The husband ordered the Chicken Cordon Blue Skillet and I got the Double Up Skillet. As I opened my first to-go carton I wasn't very impressed, small french toast slices missing the promised powdered sugar and I guess they ran out of to go butter since it was no where to be found in my bag. As I opened the second carton I was greeted by eggs that were supposed to be fresh but instead tasted more like the powdered eggs I would have found at the hotel, bacon that tasted like it had been on the grill for 3 days and hashbrowns that made me pause and look at what I was eating since I couldn't tell the difference between the plastic fork I was using and the hashbrowns that were supposed to be going into my mouth. As my husband dived into his breakfast the meal he was expecting wasn't as promised. The chicken strips were missing the flavor of chicken, not sure how that is possible since they come frozen and all the cooks have to do is fry them up, guess their fryer takes away the flavor as well. What was supposed to be a nice looking skillet presentation was instead a pile of food smothered in so much cheese sauce we started looking for the tortilla chips as it resembled some type of dip instead of a meal. Again the scrambled eggs tasted powdered like mine and the ham wasn't very good either. Another restaurant we have unfortunately scratched off our list of places we can eat here in Dickinson. Might have to stop going out to eat as the restaurants here seem to be lacking in flavor...
Read moreJust had lunch at the Dickinson Country Kitchen. Used to be our favorite place to eat. Don't know what happened recently, but it was not very good today. My husband ordered a bowl of tomato basil soup and a grilled cheese. Thinking it would come together, but nope, the soup came right away in the smallest bowl of soup we'd ever seen. He questioned the server and she said yes, a cup is one scoop, and a bowl is two. He figured he better eat it before it got cold. Well, when the skimpy little grilled cheese sandwich came, there obviously was no soup to dunk it in. I had the Aztec chicken, bacon, avocado wrap. It was nothing like I remembered from when I had it awhile ago. It was dry, little tiny bits of bacon and two tiny little pieces of avocado, no sauce (I thought it had ranch, if I remembered) It did have fairly large chunks of cold chicken and teeny tiny bits of tomato. The hostess was not personable at all. The waitress was as accommodating as she dared be. (Didn't offer more soup, or a larger bowl) Anyway, not very happy with today's visit. Not sure we'll be back for lunch anytime soon. So far, their breakfasts have still been ok, at least I hope...
Read moreI normally have a good experience with Country Kitchen. Today when my order was 20 minutes late, I called to ask what happened. Country Kitchen didn't have the address correct, and they left the order on someone else's doorstep. They claimed staff members called me, but I have no missed calls or voicemails. They agreed to redeliver my order. The delivery driver called and didn't know where I lived. She was once again at the wrong address!
Once we cleared up the address, I spoke to the delivery driver in person. She was borderline abrasive and told me I should have paid for my food again. I also received a rude handwritten note (attached photo) along with the order. Again, I had no missed phone calls or voicemails.
When I called the first time, there was no mention of a re-delivery fee, which I would have paid upon request. While I am not sure where the error occurred, I am not impressed with the unprofessional note nor the delivery driver who got lost twice. My apartment building is easy to find and my phone is never turned off.
I am very disappointed with...
