This place was packed on a Saturday afternoon. There was a wait time of 15 min or so but as soon as we sat down our orders and drinks were taken within 7 min or so. Right off the bat, the staff was very welcoming. Although super busy, they always put on a smile when talking to us. During our visit they made sure to ask many times how we were doing. There was a small hiccup towards the beginning I do want to add. We waited for a straw for a good 5 min before we gave up and asked another waiter for it and we got it immediately.
You're given complimentary beans, chips, salsa verde, and a consome (Spanish, a broth of some sort). All delicious to say the least. Our food came out about 15 minutes after that and we feasted. On the table were fried fish, shrimp cocktails, rice, salad, fries fried shrimp. I nibbled on everybody's food a bit to try it out and I enjoyed everything I ate that day and so did the people I went with.
This is a Mexican seafood restaurant so all foods that fall under this category I bet you can find at this business. There's also a Mexican burger I saw on the menu and fajita plates for those not wanting seafood. Altogether for 3 dishes and 4 drinks our total was 41 and some change including tax. Not bad I think, considering the average price per person was around 13 dollars.
It was someone's birthday that day and the staff played a birthday song, chanted, clapped along. I thought that was very neat. I had never seen this happened before considering I've been here a handful of times. They did bring out what looked like a cheesecake or a pie with a candle on it. I don't know if this is free or if it was paid for like they do at other places, but there's that.
I recommend this place. For friends, family, dates even.
I didn't take any photos but the place is very clean inside and out. There's good lighting, and there's some bright colors on the walls with tons on fish figures mounted...
Read moreThere is not enough stars for this review. From the welcoming, the waiters, the food, the ambient, their customer service..! My family & I all loved this place & will definitely be stopping by EVERY time we are in town. If you are looking for an exquisite seafood place, this is definitely the place to drop by. While you wait for your order, you are given fried beans with chips as well as broth. Which I enjoyed my broth with broken chips in it. If you finish eating this before your food arrives, you don’t even have to ask for more, they come to you politely and offer more! We had two awesome waiters! My husband is indeed a picky eater & I can say he finished all of his food including the salad. The breading they placed on his fish was like no other. We have both agreed that this place is indeed better than Mambo’s seafood. Our three entrees plus drinks was around $35 total. Definitely well spent & we came out from...
Read moreHave always loved this location, but today was the worse. After many years of always ordering the same thing and asking for some substitutions, today that was denied. I immediately asked for the manager and the manager was, according to the lady on the phone, too busy to take the call of a concerned customer. The offer of the manager calling me back was not even considered. Lady on the phone kept telling me that every manager has their own regulations, but when asked if all locations had different owners, she replied no. So if all locations are under the same owner, how can the managers have their own regulations. I called the pharr location and they took my order with no hesitation or questioning my substitutions. Sad to say Donna location has lost a loyal and regular customer to the Pharr location. May be a bit farther for me, but worth it, if I am the one paying for the items. Donna Muelle 37 you are a...
