If this is your first time eating here it is a nightmare!
You enter into the place and it's easy enough to tell, you order like at any fast food restaurant. (But 70% of the people that walked in seemed confused)
We looked at the menu board and saw that there were appetizers.(oh joy) I of course opted to try the fried mushrooms. At the same time I wonderer how it would be ordered and arrive at the table first. I continued with the order and was shocked that two adults and a two year old came to to $57. I was then prompted to tip 20% on the screen for a walk in, order your grub and wait spot. (Sorry to say that I did not tip 20%)
We then waited for our food at the table. The appetizer arrived about 15 min after we ordered. There was one catch though, it wasn't the fried mushrooms that we ordered. It was fried green tomatoes. I let our server? Food runner? Cook? Cashier? (It was not apparent) that we didn't order that. He apologized and went straight back to the kitchen. He then returned with our entrees. Disappointment was growing further at this point.
We all had shrimp in one fashion or another. My wife had a shrimp po boy, my son had fried shrimp and I had the same. The breading looked great! However after grabbing the tasty looking crustacean, I was disappointed that it was tougher than my Carhartt wallet that I paid the staggering $58 with.
Our appetizer was received and I'll be very honest. It was the only reason the review was two stars. I found myself devouring them over the cleverly disguised leather that was shaped into a shrimp and breaded to perfection.
They did try to right the wrongs and even gave me a free appetizer coupon. I am sorry to say that it was left on the table as there are no plans to return. I should have known better when it was dead on a Saturday night. Maybe I'll try it again, ...
Read moreMy wife and I came across this wonderful restaurant while coming from Phenix City to PCB. We really enjoyed the aesthetic and the location and were craving some seafood. Little did we know, we were in for an amazing and memorable dining experience. First we ordered their "Loaded Fried Tomato" appetizer - I cannot express enough how absolutely incredible the combination of flavors and perfection this masterpiece exposed us to. The sauce, the green tomato, the bacon, the feta cheese, simply breathtaking. Next we ordered the fish tacos, this came as an entre with an option for a side, we ordered the "Petite" size so it was essentially another appetizer - incredible Mahi-Mahi, toasted tortillas, amazing flavor. For the side we ordered Hush Puppies, and I've never had better hush-puppies in my entire life, these were no mere hush puppies, they were Quiet Hounds, a symphony of seasoning and toasted warmth and carbs topped with the most awe inspiring sauce, sauce that you simply have to go and try to experience for yourself. Finally we ordered our entres, I ordered the Wharf Platter and my wife ordered a variant of the wharf platter with more shrimp and less Grouper fish. Both of us were enthralled at the amount of food, the sides, the cohesion of flavors and seasoning and sauces. Simply a wonderful dining experience. They also had hand squeezed lemonade while we visited on our second pass through the area and it did not disappoint. "Wharf Style" should be a measure of perfection and has been referenced in our home as an expression of admirable cooking. If we're within 45 minutes from the Wharf we will go out of our way to visit again, and again, and again. We absolutely love this restaurant, the hosts and staff, the food and...
Read moreMy experience with my Husband at the Wharf was wonderful. We were instantly greeted by the GM Mary-Ellen, she was very pleasant and helpful with every question we had. Not only did she show us the wonderful customer service, she also cooked our food. I can see why she is the GM. Such a friendly and hard working woman. The atmosphere was amazing, it was very light and felt welcoming. The restaurant was spotless, so clean you could just sit at any table without double checking to see if there was any food on the table or seats.
As for the food:The presentation of the food was gorgeous. It was as if they had prepared it to take advertising photos. You could tell that love and care was placed into each dish. Just beautifully prepared and very appealing to the eye. It was the most flavorful, well seasoned, perfectly cooked meal I have had in a long time. I had ordered the blacked shrimp platter with green beans and the smash potatoes. Everything complimented each other and was equally balanced. I also ordered the Red Beans and Rice with Shrimp. That was so flavorful and not over barring. My Husband ordered the blacked grouper tacos. He was beyond satisfied with the flavors and the proportion. He made the comment “These are the type of Tacos you would take home to your momma because you want to marry them”. This experience has made me wanting to go back and enjoy the wonderful meal I had again.
I high recommend this...
