Where to start. First the good. Service was great. All of the young ladies were very friendly and helpful. The decor was fitting, no issues there. The bad. We all got calzones that were not fully cooked. It appears they tried to rush them out and there was no crisp what so ever on the bottom. The peppers and onions inside were only par-cooked. If veggies in a calzone still have a snap, its not fully cooked. If the bottom of the calzone isn't even browned a bit, its not fully cooked. The pepperoni inside was lukewarm at best. The ricotta wasn't evenly distributed, it was one nasty plop in the middle. No attention to detail or care. Just slap them out of the kitchen no matter what. Want another example of " I don't care? " . In each calzone, the pepperoni was just in stacks, some stacked as much as 7 pieces high and not evenly distributed. Seems picky I know, but owners, please listen, if your staff doesn't give a sh*t about the food they are sending out of YOUR kitchen, then they probably don't care about the rest of your business either. Retrain or replace. Now the ugly. This was not even pizza dough. This was BREAD dough. What the ever livin' hell? You claim the name "NY Pizza". No pizza place in NY, or anywhere else that wants to stay in business uses bread dough. A calzone is made with PIZZA dough ! We also ordered garlic knots for an appetizer. Totally flavorless. I don't know what they tried to pass off as butter, but it sure as hell wasn't REAL butter. Some nasty cheap substitute to save money I would guess. To sum up, if you have never had real pizza and wings, you probably won't know the difference and will enjoy this. But to those of us who do appreciate quality, save your money and go get a gas station pizza. I could have forgiven the bread dougn if they would have just had a bit of pride in their work and actually evenly distributed the ingredients. No one wants a big plop of ricotta in the middle of a calzone. Spread...
Read moreWe had lunch at this restaurant today, and what a huge disappointment! I ordered a lunch special of a slice of white pizza and a salad. I specifically requested that they hold the onions on my salad. The server returned a few moments later and said that the lunch special pizza was a max of 2 toppings. Not a problem...the menu may have stated such, so I didnât mind picking something different. Instead, I asked for mushrooms and banana peppers on my pizza. Shortly thereafter, the server returned bearing a salad. She shrugged her shoulders as she placed it in front of me and said, âDey put the onions on the salad so...â Then she turned around and walked off. Naturally, Iâm dumbfounded. At no point did she offer to get another salad or have the cooks remove the onions. I was confused because if something isnât right, typically a restaurant will attempt to fix the issue. She did not attempt to fix anything. A few moments later, the server brought out my pizza slice with PEPPERONI and banana peppers, so I pointed it out and told her that I donât eat pepperoni. I added that I could take the onions off the salad, but I would like another slice of pizza without pepperoni. As the rest of my party ate their mediocre meals, I sat there watching. The server brought my âcorrectedâ slice, do ya wanna know what they did?! They had simply picked the pepperonis off the pizza and added mushrooms! I could still see the remnants of pepperoni that had adhered to the sauce! I was appalled! I tried a bite, hoping I couldnât taste the pepperoni, however that was only wishful thinking because the flavor was overwhelming. Plus the crust was hard because it had been reheated.
The only positive about this place is the decor has a neat industrial vibe. I like the design, but itâs too loud to carry on a conversation.
This was my first and last visit...
Read moreI give 2 stars.. when they can get to 5 stars easy... because.. covering the bottom of the pizza was burnt pieces of whatever. I love pizza especially New York style pizza.. so when I saw this place on google maps I got excited.
The reviews all say the service was lacking but the food is great. My service was fine. Great in fact. I went in to order take out pizza. (PSA: I really had to hunt for the place. It's located in the creamery building. Park either on the street or in the parking lot.) The girls at the counter were friendly and kept me updated on the progress of my order. Once done they were quick to bring out.
The food however was disappointing. The pizza itself is wonderful!! It's very tasty. The sauce is NY like. The dough and crust I'd say not so much but good just the same. The pizza could have also used another 5 minutes in the oven also. The biggest problem I had was on the bottom of the pizza.. covering the entire bottom was burnt bits of food. This ruined the pizza. We got 2 large and this place is NOT CHEAP!
As I didn't notice till I got back to the hotel there was not a lot I could do about it. I wasn't going back. I paid closed to $40 for 2 large. That's a LOT OF $$! So to bite into a slice only to be rewarded with a mouth full of burnt tasting mystery bits was hugely disappointing.
Not sure I'll try...
