I'm specifically talking about Take Out at the Douglasville location... we've been there dozens of times & very rarely have any issues worth noting when dining in. However we've ordered To Go 3 times now (over several months) & every time there's been an issue. I tend to use the old adage of "3 times you're out" so tonight was the last time we'll order takeout at this location. I'll add that the food itself was great,as usual, & my 3 star rating is given specifically for the service received tonight. I prefer ordering over the phone as it's personable & they are able to manage the system that simply isn't always possible when ordering online - I'll add that this is true for lots of restaurants, not just Texas. Ex: adding mushrooms to a steak while dining in is a slight upcharge with a decent portion. This isn't an option ordering online-you can add onions & mushrooms to a meal but not one or the other. So I have to add mushrooms as a side item which is more costly but seems it always gives a smaller portion than dining in would serve us.
Tonight's debacle was one that we've experienced every time while ordering online which is why we won't be ordering again: we're quoted a time for pickup, texted general instructions & then you wait in your car until you receive a text that your order is ready. We chose the option of "as soon as possible" to receive our order. The ordering was finalized at 7:23pm with an immediate email & quoted as 7:49 pm for pickup. We received a text at 8pm saying the order was ready. I'm not upset that it took 10 minutes more. I am upset that when I walked into the Takeout area, it seems that the 4 people in the waiting areas all had issues with their orders. After 3 people left I entered & gave my name. As usual I was given my bag of items, instructed to check everything & sign off on the bottom of a receipt. Unfortunately we were missing items that I was charged for:extra sides of ranch, bacon bits, butter, the kids meal drink (I paid an upcharge for a specialty lemonade)& we only received a single side of butter for our order of 6 rolls. Not an issue, I told the girl assisting us all of this. She had me sign the receipt before going to get any of the items. The issue came when I had to tell her 3 different times & she went back 3 different times to get each item. While waiting I witnessed 3 other servers/helpers on their phones & not assisting any of the other customers. We did have one girl come in at one point & offer her assistance but the girl working was already handling our issues. I say "our" as I chatted with the woman next to me who was parked next to us. We waited about 2 minutes before she went in & after about 8 minutes it was my turn to enter. Seems she had similar issues with missing items, in addition to incorrect sides being placed with the wrong main dishes. And she said she had been waiting for almost 40 minutes past their emailed quote time. After the 3rd time of the girl coming back without all of our missing items I simply left. I left without the drink, the butters or the ranches.
It's not a huge ordeal but it's the little things that most people will commit to memory. The long wait times, missing items, a dirty bathroom, over/undercooked meats, etc. You can see from my posts that I tend to give a LOT of details & will comment on everything from quick bites to Vatican tours. I do this so those who come after can be fully informed & get specific details that most people tend to leave out. So that being said, again, the food itself was great as always! The steaks were cooked to the right temperature, the flavors you can expect were there & well seasoned, the ranch we love was on par with it's usual thickness....so I just want to stress that my review was again specifically for ordering takeout. Maybe you'll have better luck than us. Unfortunately of the 3 times we've come, there's been a different person each time & it doesn't seem to matter if it's early in the shift, during rush or a week day vs weekend, this particular location struggles with their...
Read moreFather's day. We got there about 7:15, our table wasn't ready until a little after 8:00. pretty reasonable for a holiday. We sit, it takes about 5 minutes for the server to greet us. He gets our drink orders and my husband is asking about draft beers, the server tells him what they have and both my husband and BIL decide to split a pitcher of Bud light. my husband doesn't drink very often, they only order this based on what the server tells them is available. our drinks get to the table about 20 minutes later, we still haven't ordered yet. We all get our drinks except for my daughter, and SIL. my husband and BIL haven't received their beer. 10 mins after that he comes back with a single bottle of Bud light. My husband reminds him again what he ordered, and the server says oh we don't have Bud light draft. So he asks what they have and ordered a different pitcher, and we all finally put in our order. I remind him again that my sister in-law and daughter still haven't received their drink yet. We ordered 2 blooming cactuses as apps, a couple of us have salads with our meals, and we wait. at this point it's probably about 8:35p- 8:40p Another 15-20 minutes goes by, someone brings 1 of the blooming cactuses, has another one in her hand and starts to walk away. We tell her that we did have a second one, she acknowledges us but was for a different table. shortly after this, our server comes back with a single bottle of Miller lite and two mugs. At this point we ask for a manager. The manager comes over and we express our concerns, keep in mind that my daughter, and sister in law has still not received drink, all of our drinks are empty and we have been here for an hour. we haven't received our salads, we are still missing an app. The manager informs us that they don't even have pitchers of beer. And we're all just like is this a joke? The manager just said sorry, I'll check on your food. Another 15-20 minutes goes by, our server does not return to our table at all. now it's about 9:20. So we end up asking for another manager. So, we talked to this other manager who actually wants to address our concerns, we ask if we can get the server that's been serving tables next to ours, we've seen her about 10x more than we've seen our server who's only been back at our table twice since we've sat. I forgot to mention that we never got bread. We didn't get bread untill we complained to the 2nd manager. So they switch our servers, gets all of our refills immediately, brings us a big basket of fries for the kids who have now been here for an hour and a half and haven't eaten yet. She gets us bread, and our salads start coming out. They did try to bring us another blooming cactus, by this point we weren't interested. About 9: 45 our food starts hitting the table. Both my and my husband's steaks are overcooked. My SIL's steak is overcooked. by this point, we would have overlooked this if we we're willing to eat a well done steak, when we ordered mid rare. My husband who hasn't said a peep this entire time is done. They brought back my and my SIL's steak, my husband was not interested in getting another plate of food. But by this time the meal was ruined. Now my husband isn't going to even eat dinner because he's tired, he's over it. I get my steak, it's cooked perfectly, but most of all of our food went into a box by this point because we are all so exhausted. everyone's just ready to go home. So we essentially sat there and waited for our food for some of us over 2 hours, and everyone ended up taking their food to go. We did make sure our second server was taken care of. she took a table of 10 hangry guests and got us fed as soon as possible. All in all we certainly didn't leave happy or satisfied. We left exhausted, my husband ended up not even getting his meal on Father's Day which is probably the most infuriating part for me. After spending over $100 for just our check alone plus tip. And having nothing but soggy leftovers the next day that can't even be...
Read moreThis was my first time eating at Texas Roadhouse. We were seated immediately. I asked for a table. Our server Tracey greeted us. She was very happy and kind. She gave us some suggestions as we asked for them. She also brought the best dang warm yeast rolls. I think we inhaled them. Yes they were warm, soft and moist.
We pretty much all ordered the same thing. Sirloin steak or Filet. Ribs, Grilled Shrimp. Baked Potato or Baked Sweet Potato and House Salads.
We started off with: Sangria Margarita- Ordered frozen with sugar. It wasn't super heavy on the liquor but the extra wine they poured into the drink was delicious. The drinks were reasonably priced.
Mango Margarita- Frozen with sugar. Delicious with pieces of Mango in it.
Sirloin Steak with Mushrooms and Onions. Medium Well. It came out slightly pink. If you like yours to be pink pink the order it medium. It was however tender and full of juice and flavor.
Ribs- I think I had 4 bones. The meat fell off the bone. The piece I had was cooked a little hard on the end.
Shrimp- It comes on a skewer bathed in butter and served on two rolls. Delicious
Baked Sweet Potato- I got mine with marshmallows and caramel. They also gave me brown sugar and cinnamon butter. Man this thing was the highlight. It felt like I was eating dessert.
House Salad- I was super impressed. They make their own salad dressing and you can tell the difference. The ranch was creamy goodness. It didn't behave a full taste. The Italian was Ah-Mazing!! Also I want to add that the croutons were fresh homemade and tender. They are not super hard. They taste so good. This is the only restaurant I know that put cooked boiled egg. It was like heaven.
If I impressed. Please note if you have ocd and are very particular this is not the place for you. They don't mind peanut shells being on the floor. I got over...
