Don’t go! And NEVER, ever trust their sushi chef! Unfortunately, tonight I had the worst experience ever! I provided feedback to the owner that the sashimi pieces are really small, in comparison to what I’ve had in other places (I showed a couple pics from my phone) and when she shared that comment with the sushi chef, (the owner knows who this is directed to) she (the sushi chef) was angry and told our waitress “we don’t do that here”. The owner explained that the cost of fish, prices, etc are expensive so they cannot serve the larger pieces, and I accepted that, I understood and still stayed for dinner. When my sashimi finally came out - 45 min after my cousin’s dinner was served, the presentation was awful! The chef stuffed all 18 pieces into a bowl and included 6 crab sticks, no salmon and no tuna - the usual assortment of fish was missing! So, of 18 pieces, 6 were of that cheap crab stick! When I asked why I wasn’t given any salmon or tuna yet I was given 6 crab sticks, our waitress came back with 2 slices of salmon on a side plate. There were many different kinds of fish for the chef to choose from - what she presented for me to eat didn’t include 18 pieces of the varieties available. I have never been insulted by a sushi chef - and never had less than a beautiful display of sashimi. Just 2 weeks ago, this same sushi chef made my sashimi order with completely different fish and the presentation was lovely. I showed the owner the difference in both dishes made by the same chef and she laughed. I left and will never be back. A patron should be able to provide feedback to a chef without the chef retaliating on the patron. I can only imagine what she would do if I wasn’t watching her prepare the sashimi. Very unprofessional behavior and not worth another visit. Spare yourself this place and this terrible sushi chef. The photos show the angry retaliatory sashimi dinner vs the 3 weeks ago sashimi dinner made by the SAME chef! One can never trust an angry chef!

We dined in with a party of 12 kids and adults. The wait time was reasonable for a Saturday evening. We were seated after a 20-minute wait or so. The server that took care of us was a good server for the number of tables she was serving. We ordered our appetizers and sushi. We were informed that the sushi bar was behind, so there was a bit of a wait. We got it dinner orders placed, and we ordered everything from chicken, steak, filet mignon, shrimp, and scallops hibachi with fried rice. To start our Chef was not the friendliest and, at some points, rude. The fried rice was ok, kind of taste like the grill and lacking flavor, like most of the food we tried. The filet mignon was nice and tender but lacking flavor, for the other cuts of steak the were a bit tough. My favorite part of the meal was the soup and the ginger dressing on the salad. The sushi was also good and fresh. Ok, atmosphere try it if you like, I don't recommend it.

I ordered the "love" fried rice from the kitchen. It was supposed to come with chicken and steak. The fried rice was just rice with soy sauce. No peas, carrots, or eggs. The chicken and steak looked like minced meat it was cut so small. Like sausage crumbles, but smaller. When I asked to speak to a manager about all the missing ingredients. He made a chopping motion with his hands and told me that the chef cut it so small that no one in my party could see it, but it was definitely there. You can get chicken fried rice from anywhere and it'll be better than what they're serving. The description is deceptive and a waste of money. The photo isn't mine, but it is the dish. It's $16 of soy sauce rice and a tablespoon of meat. Terrible.

I visited here and had a bad experience today. The food wasn't that bad because I have patronized here before it was more so if the customer service. For one it took almost 8-10 minutes for someone to come to our table with menus from when we sat down, the strawberry lemonade my son ordered was watered down, and he had pieces of hair in his food (see photos attached). The other issue was due to part of what I ordered which I thought I was ordering something but it was actually something else. When it came out I advised no this not what I wanted and I apologized and said it was my fault I tried to ask for something else instead but I was told they didn't have what I really wanted. A woman came to my table and she was very rude from the start she said, "You can't order something and then ask to send it back because it's not what you thought" and she proceeded to say "you should have asked." I was like excuse me I know it was my fault but I was told you don't have what I want and she said yes we do when I told her what I wanted I asked if I could see just to make sure. She basically was trying to tell me No so asked her to take it off my bill please she said no you can't do that. I said well I'm sorry I'm not paying for anything that I'm not able to eat and you should accommodate your customers. She said I can wrap it up for you to take home. No mam because I'm not going to eat it. So supposedly she was going to check on what I really wanted and walked off with the dish, however she never came back to our table. When the waitress brought out the check I seen the charge on there and she walked out about 5 times to see if I had my card ready to pay I was just watching her and she would never come to the table. I finally waved her over and said can you please take this off my bill. After awhile the manager came over and he said I removed it for you but next time know what your ordering. I have him the payment and he comes back with the receipt and watched over me literally to see how much I put for a tip. I know this is long, but I will NEVER patronize this restaurant again. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because there is a woman that works there whom I love her spirit and energy every time I would go there but unfortunately I didn't see her today. I know we are still within a pandemic but people shouldn't act so pressed and hard up for money. It's still all about customer service and how you treat others because without that you will have no customers whatsoever. Just always remember how you came to where you are. If you want some good Japanese food with excellent customer service check out Shogun in...

My friend and I went in for Sushi here. We had to wait at the hostess stand while the hostess processed to-go orders from 3 Uber Eats drivers ahead of us, until she finally approached the hostess and told her we were going to the sushi bar. Ok, let it slide...We got to the bar and sat down, the waitress came over with hot towels and menus and got our drink orders. Everything was good there, the server was professional and friendly and we got our drinks quickly. When we ordered, we filled out the sushi sheet and handed it to the waitress and I told her I would like an order of edamame as an appetizer. She proceeded to place our order. Soon after, I see the sushi chef pull out a bag of frozen edamame from the freezer behind the counter, right in front of us and,I thought...'Oh, no!!' But, we were having a good time, so I didn't think to say anything about it. A few minutes later, the sushi chef just starts placing our sushi rolls on top of his counter above our heads, one-at-a-time, shouting 'Sushi!'. Not saying which roll it was or anything other than, 'Sushi!'. So, we politely served ourselves our sushi, forgetting all about the edamame that we had ordered. The sushi was bad. There was hardly any fish in any of the rolls and what flavor the fish had tasted old and freezer burned. It was really disappointing, then it became disgusting. Once we started eating, suddenly a tray of edamame appeared. Of course, our desire for edamame had passed, and when we looked at it, it was a green-grey with white veins running through the hulls...I had never seen edamame that looked like that. It looked disgusting. So, I told our waitress the situation, and to take it off the bill. Then, the manager comes behind the sushi counter and the chef and he begin arguing in Japanese as to why we wouldn't pay for the edamame right in front of us. At that point, my friend and I had had enough. We barely at 2 pieces from each roll, and I called for the bill. I paid the waitress and told her, 'This was the worst sushi I ever had', and we left. Do not go here for sushi. It is absolutely disgusting. And, what a disappointment!! The restaurant is beautiful, but the service and the quality of the food they serve is by no means any where near acceptable. Do...

I’ve given Daruma three sold try’s. Each time has become more frustrating. Starting with the host whom when we arrived never looked up from her stand to great or even acknowledge our arrival. We stood there for a second and had to actually say something to her for her to break her concentration on the task that she was doing. We asked to be seated at the sushi bar where we have sat the previous two times and she sat us in one seat which was not set up and the other dirty and no menus.

After about 5 mins of sitting their we asked the sushi chef if we could see a menu he said the server would be right there. Another couple of minutes go by and she arrives with menus and hot towels which is nice. Once we selected our sake, rolls and nigiri a different waitress came and took our order.

“Sake service” They do have a good selection of sake and one of my favorite Banruka “the forgotten spirit”. One we received our bottles we were given small shot glasses to drink from. These are smaller than sake cups and hold maybe 1/2 sips per shot glass so constantly having to refill your glass is kind of annoying.

“Sushi chef” I think smiling might kill this guy. It would be helpful to announce the dishes that you are putting up for your guests instead of saying sushi for each plate that you prepare. It’s just a common curtesy for the customer Incase their order was put in wrong or maybe they didn’t know what they ordered.

“Food” While the rolls are good I wouldn’t venture to far into the kitchen menu. On my first visit to Daruma I order miso soup and it came with a cockroach in the soup. No I get that things happen but making it all the way from the kitchen to the table without a server noticing and actually presenting it to a guest is unacceptable. After the soup was removed I was asked if I wanted another cup of soup. I thought to myself so this roach was most likely soaking in the soup and you want to offer me more? I think not.

“Overall” I will not be back for a visit at Daruma. The lack of hospitality that exists in this place just hurts my soul. It’s a real shame that you can’t just get great...
