I'm not going to say barely anything, because frankly after seeing these prices...FIFTEEN DOLLARS for a CHICKEN SANDWICH?! This place is absolute highway robbery. I can name you at LEAST twenty other restaurants nearby that not only put this place to SHAME, but that would be absolutely DISGUSTED to even dare and try to make a customer feel like they have to pay THAT MUCH cash, all for a down-home feeling bite to eat.
You must be putting something in the food for all of these decent reviews. Do you not see what is happening in our Country at this particular moment in time? My only question is, "WHY?" WHY would you expect a man and his wife to pay $40+ dollars, all for food as aforementioned above...is not only LEAGUES better, but puts your customer service to shame. Yes the food is good, I'll admit. But for THIS kind of price? And we didn't even hardly get full! The portions are pathetic!
I only hope that you're able to sleep well at night, Owner. Because God knows that I WOULDN'T be able to do so. Portions so small you're lucky if you get filled up without paying a full $50 bucks for 2 people. People who worked there didn't look like they wanted to be there...I could go on and on about how shocked and disappointed I was visiting this spot. People, there are MUCH easier places on the wallet nearby, with MUCH BIGGER portions. That's it.
EDIT: I DID end up speaking a bit of my mind. I wasn't planning on it, but the more I recall, the more it left a bad taste in my mouth. Your prices are...
Read moreMaybe it was my fault. I mean there is a nostalgia factor with the burgers so it's not a huge surprise that my group was not thrilled there. Again my fault because I tried ordering off the dinner menu and I suppose that's a mistake. The chicken fried steak was poorly made but that happens. They only gave about a tablespoon of gravy.... and that was for both the meat and the mashed potatoes. So it was fried steak with basically no gravy and dry mashed potatoes that tasted like poor powdered products. Somehow I never did get the dinner vegetables that were supposed to be included according to the menu. The salad was almost good thought other than the huge pieces of onion skin it. I mean onion is ok but having almost the entire onion peel in your salad is a bit upsetting. They were of course nice enough to bring out the literally moldy garlic bread with the meal. I mean we didn't eat it. It was moldy. Our wonderful waitress did apologize and take it away. She must have been busy since we didn't see her again until everyone was finished eating. Well finished, sitting, waiting and waiting and waiting for a bill. At least they don't rush you since they don't really want to talk to you at all. I could go on but this is getting long so I will give up and head somewhere that actually uses salt on their French fries and serves Cole slaw that doesn't taste rancid.
Oh Big Boy we will always remember when you used to be good. Sorry we won't be...
Read moreI have loved Bob’s Big Boy since I was a child. There are only a few left in SoCal. My family would drive from North OC to Downey during COVID so we could sit out by the CarHop area and eat outside. Sadly, I probably ate my last meal at the Downey location . Drove 30 minutes to happily sit at the counter on a Monday morning with only four other customers and three waitstaff. Watched as my $17.49 big boy combo sat in the order window for seven minutes. Literally watched three different waitstaff check my food and leave it. Finally my waitress stopped chatting long enough to put 2 & 2 together, reach into her apron, and connect her missing food ticket to the order. She touched the cold fries and $4 upgraded onions rings and decided it was warm enough to deliver to me… cold. Again, there were only four customers in the whole restaurant and two had there food so why couldn’t they figure out who’s food was getting cold in the window for 7 minutes. Was it because they were board or were simply burnt out and don’t care? In-n-Out matches hot burgers with fries for half the price and McDonalds does it for even less. OK, maybe MacDonalds serves it fresh. Still love the nostalgia, memories and architecture of the Downey location but can’t justify paying $24 for a burger combo and drink with tip if incompetence guarantees cold food. I’m going to the...
