Guardsman Lounge — Restaurant in Downey

Popped in at 11 45 on a Tuesday night, no bartender in sight with a full bar top. Stood around for 5 minutes before asking a customer if they could point out the bartender. They said she should be back in a few. After about 5 minutes of waiting she came out got me my drink a J&C and dissapeared again. Maybe she had important business in the back, idk but not the best first impression. I will be back tho. Dont believe on judging upon strictly first impressions. Ive had this dive saved on my places to go for about 2 years hope the next time i could give a better rating I dig the atmosphere and 7 bucks for a J&C isnt bad prices at...

The evening bartender is extremely rude. I believe her name is Nadia or something similar. She literally made my friend move from a seat she claimed to be hers. She says it's HER bar. I felt she was about to pick a fight with me (pjysically). I brought my friend after having a great first time experience. She was rude the first time too but the people I met were great so I paid little mind to her. She has been there a long time and it's easy to tell that she hates her jobs and where she is in life....

It's our local watering hole. It's a right of passage in Downey that when you are 21 you must drink a beer in the 4 dive bars in town and the guardsman is on that list! Cheap drinks, nice bartenders, darts, and an online jukebox. Plus there's a Tom's burgers right next door if you get wasted and need to sop up the booze. My husband and I always make sure we have drinks with our gang of friends at the guardsman every year when we come back to visit. It's your average kind...
