We have been there twice. It was great the first time, hence the 2 stars or else it would be ZERO! The second time was a disaster! The hostess was a ditz. I gave her my name several times and she couldn't handle it. Not hard. I changed to my nickname, CJ she asked me how to spell it 4 times. No masks on, no excuse. After waiting about a 1/2 hour they texted she asked if I was DJ and I said CJ so we had to wait for her to get help to clarify her being unable to print 2 letters. We sat down and Austin was quick to the table, took our order and brought our drinks. It was downhill form there.
We sat right in front of the kitchen. Our order came up in about 20 minutes, not a bad wait for the weekend, but it sat they for another 20 minutes while people stood at the pass chatting over our food, moving it from side to side out of the way of other orders and tossing tickets on our food. Our server Austin walked by our food 14 times and never looked at the ticket. Three servers were standing there talking, looked out our ticket and threw it back up on the pass. Not one of them ran the food. Even more upsetting was what seemed to be the 2 managers, a big guy with a full beard (with no beard cover) that was very loud talkative with the staff and on his phone showing everyone and distracting them and a shorter woman with reddish short hair just stood there talking and laughing with both the foh and the boh! There was also a gal with very long braids that kept flipping them around over all the food on the pass. Yall this was a restaurant with a 30 minute wait and was packed!
Piss poor management. Our food was cold (obviously) and after it finally came more that 30 minutes our son's order wasn't even cooked yet. So for his birthday he got to watch us eat our cold food while he waited. I never got my side of grits either. This place is a disaster and the potatoes are just really gross. Go during the week in the very off hours and you will have a better experience
They never apologized for the poor experience and they did take the grits off the tab, but really I don't even have words for how disappointing @ the Diner is. Seriously, don't allow your employees to have phones out during service, don't allow them to have cups with their names on them scattered on the counter, don't allow them to walk around with a soda cup in their hands yelling across the dining room (the red headed lady) during service, run food and don't watch it get cold! Save your labor costs and get rid of these people, better...

Read moreI give the Owner 10 stars, if I could. First the visit, we were only driving thru the area after picking up family from the airport(bare with me, it will go back to the owner getting his stars). The staff was great, food was great and so was the service. The only note to management would be, if a large party all warring masks comes in and then asks to be seated outside, its most likely for health and safety precautions. The server was masked and commented before reaching into the table for items. But, maybe the assistant manager, she came to the table to help with clearing plates & drinks, unmasked and very uncomfortably close, enough that I could smell her gum flavor……even in 2019 that would have been uncomfortable & unsettling. It wasn’t a one off either, she oddly leaned and came right back in a few times.
So to best part, we rushed to head out as a crazy family would do. To make it easier, I treated and paid the bill & thought for a millisecond, I don’t remember this place being that expensive and then crazy family happens again, we get in the car. Now, 3 hours away and home, I pull the receipt out of my pocket and see that every item was charged twice($80+over charged). The restaurant was closed and now I’m like great, thinking about all the info and details to get this straight. The next day, not looking forward to an argument or banging my head against the wall conversation, I call the number on the receipt and it goes to a gentleman & his wife in the background, who sounds like he’s in his home kitchen preparing food. I thought I had the wrong number…. Forgive me, I think his name was Vinny. He listens to my explanation and says I’ll get right on it and we’ll take care of it. I’m like, ya right let’s see how this goes… within the hour he calls me back and apologized for the mistake and says the CC card has been refunded! Not an ounce of blame or excuses, just straight up took care of it. Hard to find peeps like that today in our world. Props to them and this business. His style and getter done, shows in his...
