The entire experience at Burntwood Tavern was irritating and disappointing. If you’re in doubt just go somewhere else. The worst meal I’ve had in months, and the kids wanted McDonald’s the night before! Ew! After a long day of shopping we just wanted a decent meal, and this place looked and appeared to be more semi-upscale to fit the need. We were big fans and regulars at Stonewood so we thought we’d give it a try. Worst decision ever! They are absolutely no where near upscale and the Gators puts out better quality food than this place. It’s 5pm and first item ordered was the chili, it was not warm which made it very unappetizing, the “prime rib” was leftover pieces that were not tender. Basically it’s thick lukewarm unrecognizable ingredients, it’s not good. We ordered the California Chicken, and the fillet. I paid an up charge to upgrade my side to a wedge making it about $40. Decent price. Well you get what you pay for! My potatoes were basically leftover burnt skins, no real potato, the plate was messy, crammed and the fillet raw in the middle when I ordered a medium plus. The sandwhich was no better than Chick-fil-A. The guac was brown, the top bun was too hard to eat, and just very underwhelming for being recommended. We did inform the server, she even agreed it was bad. She offered to remake the entire meal, but we were almost an hour into the meal and told her we just couldn’t wait longer. Maybe she could just reheat the fillet.. She never came back! Never got a refill, she dropped the check didn’t say a word. Picked up the check, didn’t look at us, and said in a nasty tone “have a good one” while immediately turning around so kind and super nice and bubbly to another table. Her attitude was uncalled for and incredibly nasty. We explained how bad the meal was, and said we knew it wasn’t her fault, she agreed so I’m not sure why she was so offended. I do wish a manager would have at least stopped by to see the quality of food the kitchen was sending out. On a Saturday evening , it was us and another table, so it must just be a terrible restaurant. I’d avoid it, and skip it. It’s not worth the poor food quality and terrible service. I really do think my potatoes were discarded scraps, and maybe the prime rib in the chili too. The shapes were very odd and inconsistent.. lastly and worst part my 4 year old was trying to say thank you for her milk, and the server didn’t even turn around to acknowledge her and just kept walking away. That to me is offensive, and it’s two days before Christmas. Just be nice! I took the fillet home to reheat later, had a salad and left the gross potato mess. Decent meal NOT...
Read moreBurntwood Tavern is a “new to market” restaurant that seems to teeter in an odd point between “casual” and “slightly upscale” and it seems to work! We visited for brunch on a Saturday and while we want to come back for some of their normal offerings, the brunch items were great on their own!
First of all, I really like the decor of the restaurant. It’s kinda hard to describe but it’s a mix between homemade metal objects and modern. It’s a bit odd but it’s interesting and seems to work. They have a nice big patio with roll up doors to the inside which I’m sure they will get a ton of use from 3 months out of the year. They also have a large bar area and plenty of comfortable booths.
Service was good, friendly and attentive. We waited a bit long for food for a restaurant that was quite empty, but I know brunch always throws off kitchens a bit. Speaking of food, it was great! I loved the western omelette I had. It was perfectly done with tons of toppings and good breakfast potatoes and a nice fruit cup. My dining partner had the breakfast pizza which was awesome! More of a crisp bread pizza it had a ton of flavor and was a really good sized portion. We also tried the blueberry pancakes which were the only big bummer. Super generic and flavorless compared to the rest of the food.
Only negatives were incredibly watered down and weak iced tea and while the restrooms were clean you could tell some fixtures hadn’t been replaced from the old restaurant, the toilet handles and pipes were rusty, etc.
Overall it was great and I can’t...
Read moreGreat first impression based on the decor and ambiance, everthing went downhill from there. We stopped in just for a quick bite. Quesadilla was a joke. No cheese, watery and messy, and taco bell puts more chicken in their quesadilla than this place. Some of the chicken I had to spit out because it was full of gristle. I chose to not finish it because it was that bad and I was very hungry at the time and this was an appetizer. I didn't try my husband's sandwich, but he said it did not taste fresh at all. We are simple eaters. Based on the look of this place you would think it was more high end. Nobody was at the hostess stand which didn't matter to us, we just made our way to the bar. However, I observed a customer walk in, be passed by by two associates who said nothing to him. He looked confused as he stood at the empty hostess stand. Finally the bar back approached him. Again, great look but the people working here are clueless. No complaints on our service from the bartender, but was shocked that she ran out the front door to do who knows what (smoke?) And told a few men at the bar "if anyone comes in looking for me, just tell them I'll be back". Wouldn't you have another associate cover the bar instead of putting a few regulars to work? Strange. We were looking forward to trying this place out since it's close to home and were hoping it would be one of our new spots. Disappointed and won't be back. Not a lot of variety on the menu either. What a waste of good decor, they won't survive, is all I could think...
