I have been here before about 10 years prior when I used to live in Dr. Phillips area. I returned because this place was delightful in my memory, and I wanted some quiche.
The line for ordering took about a half hour on a Sunday morning. I was about 7 people deep in the line at 1130am, and the line behind me was out the door. While waiting in line, I was watching the restaurant and its staff. Two of the owners are hustling around the restaurant, helping the staff deliver food, and one of them greeting his customers waiting in line for their orders to be taken. A personal touch and definitely the mark of good involved owners.
By this time, about 3 of the different kinds of quiches were sold out, but I was lucky the kind I wanted was still available!
I ordered a cappuccino with my quiche and ordered some croissants to go for later as well.
My cappuccino was brought out to me first. It was absolutely stunning in its presence and tasted perfect!
It took me over 30 minutes to receive my quiche after sitting down at my table. This was a downer for me, as the quiche is already made and only needs to be re-heated up. I was pretty hungry, and thankfully, I had ordered some croissants to go, so I ate one of those. The was fabulous, buttery and flakey.
I was just about to go back to the counter to ask if my quiche was lost or forgotten about, and then it arrived. When I took my first bite, it was luke warm and not hot. I started to think it was no longer hot because it actually was forgotten at the window and sat there getting cold. However, I chose to just eat it instead of waiting longer by sending it back to be reheated again...it did take 30 minutes to get to me. It appeared to have an extra layer of cheese on the bottom of it between its crust and where the egg started. Oddly, this cheese had remained uncooked and had not melted? Now, my theory of it being lukewarm because it was forgotten at the window went out the door. Now I questioned if it was cooked properly. The crust was not flakey either, and it was dense. Definitely not the way I remembered it? Don't think I would order the quiche again, but many of the items I saw the servers bring out while waiting in the order line looked great.
The cappuccino and cresent rolls were marvelous!!! Maybe just a different time, so the order line isn't overwhelmed, and the kitchen...
Read moreDr. Phillips area of Orlando, FL. Utterly charming. French music (accordion and vocals), a mural of Paris on the wall, excellent croissants and baked goods, healthy omelet choices, and the neighborhood loves it. Even though we came on a Saturday at peak hours it didn’t quite fill up inside or outside so it retained that relaxed charm. The person at the register was amazing in patiently answering our questions and being friendly.
Se habla espanol aqui y hay una mezcla de los que hablan dos idiomas o mas con los que solo hablan el ingles.
We had the Johnny Omelette (egg whites, turkey, and mozzarella) with tomatoes on the side drizzled lightly with olive oil and choice of bread; a slice of divine, buttery apple custard torte; a breakfast sandwich of bacon, egg and cheese on a fresh croissant; a mocha latte and a cappuccino.
While the counter service was stellar and the servers were efficient I wouldn’t say the service was overly friendly, other than the person taking orders. Our waters were not refilled. No one asked if everything came out okay. Our table number sign was not collected, and neither was the other table’s. These are minuscule things to note, but when paying $46 for breakfast with dessert thrown in, one notices. Most of all, the coffee was okay but not great. My husband’s mocha latte was more like a Nestle hot chocolate of tepid temperature, with hardly any coffee to detect. He liked it. My cappuccino was mostly foam in a tiny cup for $5. I’m used to Miami coffee.
But we’d return for the croissants and pastries. Highly recommended for...
Read moreI read the reviews and I wanted to check it out, I’ve been trying breakfast places all around Orlando. Sadly I can’t say much for the food or the atmosphere for my family. First thing is ordering from the front and then having a to go to the table doesn’t seem like that great of a set up for their menu. While they have a lot of things on the menu it will take you some time to figure out what you want and if you’re with a large party or are you in a party of four that’s not going to bode well. Second problem I had was some of their tables, they were wobbly and in addition the drinks on them will slide. We had one drink slide off the table and break. The next problem was with the food, the crepe had something in it that almost chip my tooth. The waffles were pretty standard, and the omelette that I had was very plain, there really wasn’t much taste to it. I tried all the dishes from my family.
Staff was friendly, I just wasn’t a big fan of the general set up of the restaurant or the food in particular.
I suggest Keke’, hash hash a gogo, ihop, dennys or anywhere else if you are a party of four, or if you have kids.
