Update 7/29/2024: Bumped my review down slightly, mainly out of pure concern. I believe this restaurant is one of if not the best Korean restaurant in Orlando, but it is constantly empty. I really believe management needs to make some changes in order to really grow and so that this fantastic restaurant can remain in business.
First off, I noticed that some menu items have already been cut (my personal favorite being the Dosirak) and I don't think this is the way to go because I feel as the Dosirak is a fantastic item that truly highlights the diverse cuisine offered here. I really think showcasing the dosirak as one of the highlights of the menu would go a long way. Offer a fun lunch menu with a smaller version of the Dosirak as one of the main attractions for guests to come and enjoy. I can't think of another place in Orlando where you can get a Dosirak with banchan like you can at Surah.
Second, there is ZERO social media presence for this restaurant, there are two (?) pages for this restaurant and none of which are really active. Social media is exceptionally impactful, I'm not a huge fan of Tiktok influencers but this is a big way in which people find out about your restaurant. PLEASE offer to comp some meals for some popular food tiktokers in Orlando so they can come and try the food and see how amazing it is and be the first spark for many who are looking for what Surah provides.
Lastly, I would really see if there is a way to make prices for some more managable. The quality is exceptional here, but there might be different avenues to explore to offer more competitive prices that may help in further attracting people to this restaurant.
I want to see nothing but this restaurant succeed, the food is fantastic, the potential is there, just a few more things need to be done.
Update 4/5/2024: I came back again, with friends this time and everything was an absolute hit again. This time I had the bulgogi beef and wow that meat was exceptionally tender and paired well with the included sauce that the bulgogi was dipped in. Once again, definitely looking forward to coming back!
Yeah, this is the best Korean restaurant in Orlando. Everything was delicious down to the banchan that was initally brought out, every single dish was excellent (my personal favorite being the fish cakes). I personally had a Dosirak and everything was fantastic. I tried the Galbi short rib and the meat was tender and packed with a smokey flavor and everything else in that box paired perfectly.
I can't wait to come back and try everything else this place has to offer, this IS the most traditional Korean dining experience that I've had and I cannot wait to come back and have some more. I love it when I feel like I'm having home cooking and not some generic take on what is genuinely some fantastic representation of the cuisine of Korea.
TLDR: Do not let the prices phase you, this place is WORTH...

Located in the vibrant hub of Dr. Phillips, Orlando, Surah is a culinary powerhouse that's tough to keep under wraps for long. As someone who appreciates robust, authentic flavors and top-notch service, my recent visit to this Korean restaurant left a significant impression and had me planning my next visit as soon as I left.
The moment I walked in, I was met with a warm welcome from the friendly staff, setting the stage for an excellent dining experience. Every dish that hit the table wasn't just a meal; it was an adventure, packed with flavors and textures that were both bold and satisfying.
The Bibimbap was remarkable. The balance of crisp, fresh vegetables and tender meat, topped with a perfectly cooked egg and a kick of spicy gochujang, delivered a powerful punch of taste. That they adapted it to be Keto-friendly for me was a great bonus, highlighting their commitment to accommodating diners' preferences without losing authentic taste and quality.
The Korean Fried Chicken stood out as well. Even my pickiest eater, my son, polished off his plate and eagerly asked for more. The chicken was fried to golden perfection, with each bite revealing juicy, flavorful meat – a dish that could win over any critic, young or old.
Surah manages to shine not only for its gastronomic offerings but also for its reasonable prices. Each dish is affordably priced, making it an inviting spot for families and food lovers eager to experience the depth of Korean cuisine.
The setting is inviting and comfortable, serving as a fitting backdrop for both intimate dinners and lively gatherings. As a newcomer to Orlando's dining scene, Surah has swiftly established itself as a must-visit location for anyone chasing authenticity and quality in their meals.
In sum, Surah is more than just a dining spot; it's a sensory adventure. This hidden gem in Dr. Phillips has rightfully earned a spot as my regular go-to, and its reputation as one of the area’s top secrets is sure to spread fast. With its standout flavors, welcoming vibe, and focused service, Surah is a destination no food enthusiast should miss. Five...
Read moreExcellent restaurant! My aunt and I had lunch together at Surah the day after the restaurant opened in October. She never had Korean food before and she enjoyed her lunch and I enjoyed mine, too. The food is authentic Korean and tastes great. Due to my food allergies I was limited on menu choices and had bibimbap. I decided after lunch that I would have my birthday party at Surah. The owner worked with me to ensure a wider menu for the party that accommodated dietary needs for everyone who was attending. There were 10 attending and the dinner party was phenomenal! The restaurant staff were very attentive to what my guests needed and very careful to serve selected special menu items to those with special dietary needs. Everyone loved the food! Several attending never had Korean food before and were a bit tentative to try at first, but they soon were eating heartily, digging into the galbi, bulgogi, Korean pancake and all the banchan. Everyone was getting full and there was still more food coming out from the kitchen! The restaurant was not yet serving desserts from the menu, that is due to happen soon I was told. So, for dessert special cakes were brought in and the staff served those up for everyone to enjoy. Due to the group party and the special preparation needed for the special food the cost was a bit higher than the regular menu items, but that is too be expected. We definitely received great value that evening. The regular menu prices are good, too, for casual dining. I'm hoping they may add shabu-shabu to the menu later on or even Korean style bbq at the table. This restaurant is definitely two...
