Last night my wife and I decided to spend our New Year's Eve here to celebrate an anniversary. Last time we were here was November 2023 and was one of the worst dining experiences we've had in Orlando. So we were very hesitant on ever coming back. We got all fancy and headed to the restaurant. Walked in and checked in, the hostess in the front assisted us with taking our pictures, and they came out perfect. But we then went to go to our table, when we got to it, the team had decorated it with rose pedals and a card for our anniversary. It was an amazing way to start our evening. The little things like that mean the world.
As we sat down our waitress Melissa came by and introduced herself and who would also be helping her out throughout the night. Super nice. We then ordered a few drinks and they came out quickly and were great. Next we ordered our entrees. I went with Ribeye and my wife went with the Lamb. Sides we went with the Lobster Mac & Cheese and the Sweet Potato Casserole. We told Melissa briefly of our previous visit and she promised that it wouldn't happen this time. So we put our trust into her hands. The staff in between came over to make sure we were good with drinks and not too long later our dinner came out.
Once dinner arrived we started to dig in. Cut the meats and they were cooked to absolute perfection. The Ribeye was really good, but.....the Lamb Chops were incredible. We were blown away with how amazing the Lamb Chops were. We've run into this before at different restaurants, where we get two dishes and one is really good, cooked perfectly and you think that one dish is perfect. Then the other dish blows it out of the water. Now the Ribeye was great, don't get us wrong. Would get it again and again, easy 8.5 out of 10. The Lamb Chops a solid 9.5 out of 10 in my opinion. Some of the best we've had ever.
Onto the sides. The Lobster Mac & Cheese, topped with the best Maine Lobster which brought me back up to Nubble Lighthouse in Maine eating a lobster and having those flavors. For me the mac was cooked perfectly, cheddar cheese sauce was good as well. The Sweet Potato Casserole on the other hand was great as well. That perfect sweetness to counter the rest of the meal.
Seriously this was a complete turnaround from last time, exact meal we expect coming to Ruth's Chris. Quality and service and cook temps tonight was SPOT ON! I don't write many reviews, but this was above and beyond our expectations and will be back again.
Thank you again to our waitress Melissa and the rest of the...
Read moreWe went to Ruth's Chris this past Saturday night to celebrate my birthday. We normally go to Fleming's for my birthday, but I had heard many good things about Ruth's Chris and I wanted to try something new, so we ventured out.....boy was I let down. For starters we were seated and it took the server a little over 13 minutes to even greet us. When the first gentleman came over he explained he was just there to give us water and that he thought Melissa would be our server and she would be right over. Then another 10/12 minutes goes by and our server came over. Asked us if anyone had been over to see us and we told him just the young man with the water, he then told us that he and another person would be taking care of us as a partnership. He asked if we were ready to order and of course we were. We ordered our full meal including drinks at this time. Our salad and soup came out first and the Lobster Bisque was not very warm, the salad was excellent. Our drinks came out after that, which were good. I asked to trade out my not so warm soup for salad which he said was fine. We didn't see him again after that until well after our meals came out. My salad bowl ended up on the table until the very end of it dining. My Medium-rare filet with the Oscar Style topper came out medium-well and the topper was dry and overdone also. I was not happy at this time and we had to flag someone down to get our server to come over. He did have another filet made for me and I opted to forgo the Oscar topper this time. The new filet was much better, but still not correct. We again had to wait and flag him down to order our dessert. Once we received that we ate it, and then sat so long another server can't over to ask if needed anything and if we had seen our server. She got him to bring our check, which he then stood and waited for while explaining to us that he does not like Magical Dining and is very happy that it is ending. During all of our issues we never once saw a manager or had one stop by just to see if we doing okay. I have eaten in many elegant upscale restaurants which is what I thought Ruth's Chris was supposed to be and this is by far one of the worst experiences we have ever had. The food was not what I would have expected from the great things I was told and the service was not good, it left us very...
Read moreWe have been to this Ruth's Chris restaurant many times. Last night was an unexpected and disappointing return. We'd set up for a party of six and a birthday for our son. When greeted by the hostess, I arrived early. She told me we couldn't seat until at least half the people were there. When my daughter and granddaughter got there, she told me we couldn't seat until a majority of the people were there. We were sent to wait in the bar area with our almost 2-year-old granddaughter. service at the bar area was not up to the standard that you would expect from a restaurant of this quality. We ended up having to go directly to the bar to order a couple of drinks while we waited for the rest of our group. Even though there were waiters and waitresses walking around taking care of other tables beside us, never asking if we needed anything. the manager was asked if it would be okay if I supplied a special dessert, and he allowed it, which was appreciated. Throughout the dinner, I had educated our server that we had this special dessert for the birthday he kept trying to push other desserts that the restaurant offered. Granted, I know times are a little tougher, and staffing is limited. There was a bus load of people that had come in, and it seemed like they had to work to concentrate to make that busload of people happy, which is fine. It just didn't seem right that we had to be neglected for the larger group. The food was mediocre at best. We had to send back at least one plate because it was not even cooked to the correct temperature. Trying to get our waiters' attention to refill our drinks or to order anything else was an adventure in itself. The waiter was okay, and that would be the best I could give as far as an assessment. It just surprised all of us in the group we've been to Ruth's Chris multiple times that this restaurant quality and not just their food but their service has lowered to the level of fast food restaurants, no offense intended to any fast restaurant employees. Our tip was over $90 which should then tell you the cost of our meal. Unfortunately, I felt compelled to make this statement available in hopes that the right people would see what we considered a very lackadaisical time at what we once considered was a higher...
