What an amazing experience!! 1913 is located in City of Hopes hotel. It is a beautiful gem. You would never know it's there. I went last night for dinner with my Pink sisters. From the decor, greeting on arrival, to the service from Dominic, food, and drinks.... Everything was an A+. I ate the Casablanca chicken. It was a breast of chicken fillet served on top of Yukon gold mash with asparagus and a beautiful demi glaze mushroom sauce. The plate was a beautiful platter that was warm. The chicken was packed with flavor to accompany the butter Yukon mashed potatoes. The sauce was a perfect blend of richness. I chose the Sandia lime mocktails. Boy that did not disappoint. As soon as it came to the table ... I was in awe.. it was served in a short glass on the rocks garnished with a caramelized dried lime. Just BEAUTIFUL! I took dessert home Togo. I got the lemon blueberry cheesecake. I was so excited when I opened my container. It was plated with love. The tables are filled dressed with white linens, yellow napkins and beautiful silverware. You will also have wine and water glasses. The decor is modern with an old sophisticated feel. Seating is comfortable and spacious. There is plenty of parking and a valet! Valet is $4.00 or $2.00 for disability plaque Thank you 1913!!! I will be back. Can't wait to...
Read moreSunday afternoon, 5 p.m. This is a bare tabletop restaurant, at dinner. High noise levels with about 50% occupancy. Waitress called my wife and me, both in our 70s, "you guys". Ordered soup du jour, lentil vegetable in beef broth, received about 12 ounces of broth and about 3 tablespoons of vegetable, as though the supply had run out. My wife and I ordered salads and they took half an hour to arrive. Wife commented that the candied nuts in her salad were sweet but the nuts seemed stale. Waitress presented check by placing it on far side of table, so I had to get out of my chair to pick it up. Cleared plates by stretching across the table rather than taking the trouble to walk around. I will say that the public areas of the restaurant, including the men's restroom, are probably the cleanest I have ever been in, so good job with that. Recommendation: 1) Train your wait staff in proper manner of addressing elderly people. 2) Train your wait staff in correct methods of serving and clearing. 3) Find out why the kitchen was so slow on 9/28 at 5 - 6 p.m. and remedy it. But don't bother just on my account. I'm...
Read moreOh my God, what a hidden gem to uncover! Tucked away on the City of Hope campus, where you'd never look, is this elegant but reasonable, lovely decorated, quiet restaurant with lovely surroundings. Amazingly friendly and authentic service, and great chefs in the kitchen that are creating gourmet delights! I don't know why that place is there, but I'm sure glad we found it. My friend and I have very diverse tastes and we both loved what we got. We topped it off with some frozen daiquiri like non-alcoholic drink that was non-dairy and made from oatmilk andres again was just the right amount of tart and sweet And was the perfect dessert. I could go on and on but let me tell you we can't wait to go back there! They can give you a small intimate table or a large table for 15 or 20. My friend is a gourmet cook and very critical and she raved about everything. Charming and accessible wait staff. Valet parking right in front of the building, and it's right off of main Street, easy to find. I just can't say enough! And reasonably priced for what you get. Ps BEST light flaky spring rolls I've ever had in my whole...
