I was coming here often, and tipping well, but I just went on a big trip and felt the need to tighten up a bit, prices are going up. (They’re charging 5 for a coke!) So I always get take out, but this time I didn’t tip. I always feel like a tip before a meal or service is more like a bribe, but these people have been so great, so surely that’s not the case, right? Well there was a line of people getting sauce, so I got in line and waited. As I’m about to grab sauce the lady brings my food out to me. Then she starts refilling the sauce bar before letting me get my sauce. Nothing in the sauce bar was particularly empty, maybe about half for some. She takes about 5 or 6 minutes doing this as I just stand there holding my empty cups. I was the last person in line. There was enough sauce for me. Why not just wait until after? This felt a bit targeted and made me feel like maybe the tip before food or service IS a bribe. I didn’t bribe so now I’m being punished. Did they do anything to my food because I didn’t bribe?
This feels pretty bad, I don’t think I’ll come back, sadly. I do love the food.
EDIT RESPONSE: the salsa bar wasn’t dirty, and there were 8 people in front of me. As previously stated, nothing was empty when I got to the bar. Did those people not deserve a “full and clean” salsa bar? Let’s say it was a strange coincidence, the root of the problem is the tip prompt before receiving any service or food, and I wouldn’t have been made to feel this way if it wasn’t there.
Also you can buy Mexican 1/2 liter coke on Amazon 24 bottles for $44, or about $1.83 each. Which means subtracting the CA tax you’re profiting 132%, assuming you buy them from Amazon and not a cheaper...
Read moreBeen here several times and this place deserves a review. This has become my favorite Mexican place recently, but not everything is a hit.
What I like are their soft tacos. I have tried different meats and my top ones are beef birria (birria de rez), chile verde, al pastor. I usually like lengua (beef tongue) in Japanese cuisine, but beef tongue here was so-so. I have tried their handmade tortillas and they were pretty good. However, I am not sure $3 for 3 tortillas is worth it.
I also liked their quesadilla mediana. My wife was here one time and ordered the fish plate, but did not enjoy it as much.
The chips and salsas bar has become the main attraction. I realized this is why I am there a lot. It is complimentary to your meal and I thoroughly enjoy it! They have 2 types of chips: tortilla chips and dorito chips. I get the pickled carrots as a palate cleanser and add the pickled onions to my tacos. The best sauce in my opinion is a mixed sauce: half garlic and half jalapeno. I cannot stop eating chips with this combo sauce. When it gets a bit too much, I dip the chips into my 2nd sauce: the tomato salsa with some hot chili oil. This is very different from the creamy garlic and jalapeno, but still tasty and gives it a slight kick. There is also a green taco salsa (not pictured) that I get and splash on my soft tacos.
I see myself going to this place very often since it's very close and that chips & salsas bar is amazing. I look forward to trying more...
Read moreToday I had the pleasure of trying the Chicken Fajitas for Lunch at Dublin Taqueria, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience! The dish arrived sizzling hot, with an enticing aroma that immediately captured my attention. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and grilled to juicy perfection, complemented by a generous assortment of sautéed bell peppers, tomatoes and onions.
The portion size was impressive, offering great value for the price. The side of warm house tortillas( paid $$$) , fresh salsa and other sauces(free and 4-5 varieties , chips at the stand) allowed for customizable bites, each bursting with flavor. The freshness of the ingredients really stood out, making each fajita in tortillas wrap a delightful combination of textures and tastes.
Overall, Dublin Taqueria’s Chicken Fajitas are a must-try. The quality, flavor, and presentation make this dish a standout on their menu. Inside ambience is very good and nice background music, friendly and helpful staff.
I’ll definitely be coming...
