After reading many 4* and 5* reviews, so much hype about this restaurant, me and my wife visited this place yesterday. While parking car, we felt the location is great and ample parking place and we were excited to have some delicious dinner at this place.
However, as we enter, we were surprised by the welcoming by a person who was wearing suite. He absolutely did not have a smile on his face. There were many tables and chairs vacant and he gave us a table where the sunlight was directly falling on our faces (as it was during sunset at around 7:45 - 8:00 pm). We requested for an alternate seating and the answer from the man in suite was “THIS IS THE ONLY OPTION FOR YOU” and left from there (it was like directlly hitting on our faces with a message if you want eat here, else find something else outside).
Our disappointment continues as we continue to order food sitting at the same place where the man with a suite suggested to sit. The lady who came to take the order was not ready to suggest what’s most special dish as we could see 100s of options on the menu and it was difficult to decide what to eat. Since she didn’t recommend, we decided to order a KP special Biriyani (I think we made a very wrong choice of ordering Biriyani at a wrong place as there are many better biriyani places in East Bay).
We couldn’t eat the food and decided to pack the food and take it to home, so we asked for a box to pack Biriyani. The lady who took the food order gave us the box which was dirty and was already used by someone or maybe used for something else. When we showed it to her, she said and sorry and got a different box.
We also observed the folks who were serving food there and felt they were very disappointed as there was no smile on their faces nor they are saying anything while delivering food on tables. They just come, keep it and go (we felt as if they were serving free food)
I don’t think, we will go there again spend good amount of money where there is no customer empathy, no tasty food and no curtesy to provide seating options for customers. There will be many FIRST TIME customers like us who expects a good impression about any restaurant, their staff and more importantly the food. We definitely feel good with other nearby restaurants like Chat Bhavan and Star Chat Cuisine. I don’t mind going to these restaurants repeatedly as tey have never disappointed us with the gesture and taste...
Read moreKailash Parbat in Dublin, CA, makes a strong first impression with its beautiful ambiance and top-notch interiors. The decor is vibrant, modern, and creates a welcoming atmosphere for diners. Parking wasn't too difficult to find, which is always a plus for the area.
We were excited to explore their menu but found the food quality to be underwhelming in several areas:
Papdi Chaat: This dish typically bursts with a mix of tangy, spicy, and sweet flavors, but here, it lacked the punch we were hoping for. The flavors felt muted, and the balance of ingredients didn't quite hit the mark.
Aamchi Mumbai Sandwich: A classic street-style sandwich packed with vegetables, chutneys, and masalas. While it was enjoyable, it didn't stand out in terms of the bold flavors usually associated with Mumbai street food.
Paneer Tikka Mastani: Paneer is expected to be soft, smoky, and flavorful, but this version didn't meet those standards. The paneer was okay, but the spices didn't come together to create the vibrant taste we were looking for.
Mushroom Tikka: Unfortunately, this dish felt undercooked, leaving the mushrooms a bit raw. The spices and marinade also didn't come through as well as they should have, making it one of the less enjoyable items.
Bombay Vada Pav: The saving grace of the meal! This dish was flavorful, with a soft pav bun and a perfectly spiced potato filling. It brought a bit of the authentic Mumbai street food vibe to the table.
Desi Kala Khatta: This tangy and refreshing drink was a nostalgic treat. Its sweet and sour profile was spot on, making it a delightful way to wrap up the meal.
While the ambiance and service were impressive, the food quality needs improvement in some dimensions. I'd recommend visiting for the experience and it could have been a one off day where we ended up on the wrong side with food.
Hopefully it'd be...
Read moreThis is a branch of the legendary Kailash Parvat in Colaba, Mumbai. This was our “ go to” place for Pani Puri, Ragda Patis, Punjabi Samosa and of course Kulfi/Falooda during my early years. Yesterday we decided to try out the Dublin branch. Here is my honest review: We ordered for the four of us, pani puri, sev puri, ragda patis, Punjabi samosa, vada pav and malai kulfi. Pani puri - excellent…just like the original one in Colaba. The stuffing is only savory bundi accompanied by probably the BEST “ pani “ that hits the bulls eye. Sev puri - excellent. Perfectly balance sweet and savory with a delicate crunch. Ragda patis - excellent. Just the way it gets served in the original shop in Colaba. In reality, it is more like an aloo tikki shallow fried till both sides are lightly crisp. The accompanying Ragda was excellent as well. Punjabi samosa - Disappointing indeed. The covering was not khasta ( soft and crisp) at all. It was limp to the touch. The owner acknowledged it and attributed it to the lack of availability of the “right” type of shortening. The filling also was not up to mark. It lacked the correct blend of spices. Vada pav - disappointing. It lacked the overall flavor from garlic, curry leaves and green chilies. Malai Kulfi - All I can say is it’s DIVINE…Benchmark of true excellence. The BEST kulfi o have had other than the original shop in Colaba. Kulfi is not just a richer version of ice cream. This kulfi is rich in it body and is “danedar ” to perfection. Danedar is about experiencing the granules of malai that are integral part of this creation Service - Outstanding. Our server by the name Pavitra did a fantastic job in taking care of us. Even the owner, Sagar, was very much interested in our feedback and agreed to take corrective actions.
In summary, probable the finest place of its kind in the San Francisco Bay...
