Yesterday was craving for Udipi’s Spring dhosa and we used to love Udipi sambhar, Spring dhosa and idli hence we went there. Didn’t know the ownership has changed. When we arrived we saw lot of people so were impressed. When we were seated….no one arrived to serve us water and to take the order. 1 lady was running around trying to do everything so seems like they are understaffed. When I called the lady to place the order, she said they didn’t have idli or vada even though it’s Friday night and we reached there around 8. Food arrived after a long time and it didn’t taste like it did before change of management. We ordered spring dhosa and rasam. The quantity was good for both Spring dhosa and rasam and chutney was good as well. But Spring dosa was very soft, half of sambhar was filled with tomatoes that too big size and rasam had lot of oil in it. We were disappointed because of the long wait time…had to wait 30 minutes and then when the food came, we didn’t feel like eating because it didn’t taste like before but we ate because we were hungry. Glad we ordered 1 spring dhosa and not 2. Udipi should improve Spring dhosa recipe ie go back to the recipe they had before. For rasam, the taste was good but they should put less oil. Giving them 2 stars for quantity.

I recently visited Udipi Restaurant and had a mixed experience. The Madras Masala Dosa was awesome, perfectly crisp and flavorful, a true delight for dosa lovers. The Egg Dosa was also good, with a nice blend of spices and well-cooked egg. Mango lassi was also really very good. However, I was quite disappointed with the North Indian dishes. They were really very bad and did not meet my expectations at all. The Egg Curry was the worst dish of the evening, lacking flavor and proper seasoning. Additionally, the Paneer Tikka was not cooked properly, leaving it underwhelming and unappetizing. If you're looking to enjoy authentic Udipi food, this restaurant is a good choice. But don't expect the same level of flavor and quality in their North Indian dishes. Overall, while the South Indian dishes at Udipi Restaurant were impressive, they need significant improvement in their North Indian cuisine. I hope they take this feedback positively and work on enhancing the quality of their offerings.

Sad that I must leave this review. Surely some people have had a good or better experience, but the one I just had will most likely leave me sick. First let me say, I exclusive eat poultry, no "red meat" no pork and hardly ever fish. As such I am very sensitive to how my choice of "meat" tastes. Also as an ex chef (still cook but only for family and myself) I know the more disgusting "tricks of the trade" that some would employ to save on costs.

Having said that, let's get into this review. AVOID THIS PLACE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE! They apparently have zero issue serving close to or spoiled food. Ordered there chicken 65, about half of what I got was very off and odd tasting chicken. Off and odd because it was close to and or spoiled. JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE COVERING IT IN A TON OF SEASONING (poor seasoning at that, so much spice for so much bland) DOES NOT MEAN IT WILL HIDE THE TASTE OF SPOILING MEAT! The "yogurt" sauce included with my full order was SPOILED simple and plain. Curdled and separated as rotten yogurt will get that's been left out of refrigeration for far to long. Already feeling my stomach churning from the sad attempt of cooking this dive attempted. Apparently it was a vegetarian place prior, go back to that if you were any good at it. Because you are not good at making meat. Tasted the wife's "butter chicken", where was the butter? Garlic naan? Premade naan with some butter and chunks of fresh (hoping it was fresh considering everything above) garlic. Not cooked either mind you. Sister IL had same as me and also found some very foul tasting chicken bits in her order as well. Simply disgusting "food"!

I love Eastern Indian fare, I have since I was a child. This review is in no way a disservice to this type of food, but strictly this "restaurant", for lack of a better less expletive laden term. Chucko's deserves no business until these issues are addressed, I'd wager the wife's chicken also had/has spoiled and/or near spoiled chicken. Has me wondering how many people have they poisoned, which is exactly what this kind of irresponsible action leads to. If you've eaten here and have gotten ill afterwards, you now know why. If you have, report it to the health department. It needs to stop before someone gets seriously...

Although it's not listed, you seat yourself. You also self serve water. The glasses and water are located in jugs across from the kitchen.

Mostly Indian people at the restaurant. Food is good, but I'd get takeout.

It might be pleasant to dine in during winter, but you will probably stay longer than you think you will. It's quite warm inside and the combination of the wait and the heat can be a little taxing. It would be great if there was a small fan.

When we arrived, the server told us there was a twenty minute wait. We were fine with that, and were able to order twenty minutes later.

We waited over an hour for our food. When it arrived, we repeatedly had to ask for silverware. After the 3rd time, I walked up to the kitchen and received a plate and a spoon for my mother.

In terms of food, I would avoid the lamb chops. It tasted good, but the amount of meat on all 3 lamb chops on the "rack" of lamb is equal to one normal lamb chop you'd normally receive. One of the items we ordered was not the item we received, and we had to ask her to bring rice for the dish, which was obviously supposed to come with rice. The kerala chicken curry was pretty solid. When we were almost done with the meal, someone who wasn't our server brought us rice.

It does seem like they have some preferential treatment issues, based on the amount of times we were ignored. It seemed like most of the other Indian tables were receiving proper service. To be fair, there may have been a language barrier or she may have been distracted by her children. I just don't expect to ask for silverware 7 times before receiving it.

I almost always tip 20% minimum, but I didn't leave one based on the service. Hopefully this was an off...

SCAM!! This place, which I visited after 3 yrs with my family is the worst place you can be for a dine in restaurant. The management changed, which we realized only after getting in and the whole vibe is horrible. There is one lady running everything and she is horrible at guest services. The menu says pure vegetarian. The name says vegetarian and the banner has Krishna on it. Nothing is changed but they offer only half the menu and also ask if you want non-vegetarian food. Wow! Horrible. Anyways, we got only 2 items of the 4 we wanted and it was basic / masala dosa and idli. Both were the worst and believe me, I am very patient generally with food and hospitality specially because of the pandemic. But, the person tells me maybe you don’t like the taste. There was no salt in the Sambhar and the whole food tasted stale. It was cold and stale. On providing this feedback, the lady said maybe you didn’t like it and this is how we do things. Wow! Then, instead of providing me with an invoice, she asked me to come to the counter and pay. We were in and out in 25 mins and that includes the time to sit down, order and get out. I would give this a zero star if that was possible and I would be surprised it they remain in business more than 6 months if this continues. We had the worst experience I have had at any restaurant (any style/cuisine) in Georgia.

Forgot to mention- the menu prices and actual bill is totally off. It was 40% higher than the menu prices when we got the...
