There is an unfortunate trend with Indian restaurants in US that the food and service both deteriorates as the restaurant becomes more famous and successful. Unfortunately, GOKUL SWEETS in Duluth GA is no different. We have been regular customers of this place and have recommended many Indian and American friends to this place over the years. We have been noticing that quality of food has been going down, staff had become a lot ruder and more careless and wait time was increasing but we were still supporting this Indian business. However, what happened today is forcing me to write this review and we will not be returning to Gokul Sweets ever. As usual in this COVID environment I ordered ahead for pick-up and my mistake was that I did not ask to confirm prices while ordering as I was ordering my usual. When I arrived at the shop to pick up food the bill was almost 30% more than usual. When I asked, they said they charged $3/garlic naan even though their website and menu in the restaurant said price to be $1.87/ naan. Their excuse was that this is the new price just did not get time to update website/ menu. Charging more than advertised price is illegal. I can no more be buying from a business that is not only rude, bad in service, with degrading food quality and now price gouging customers.

I bough some Gulab Jamun and White Rasgulla around 8/11/21 and was given a fungus infested lot. Ended up enduring food poisoning and subsequent hassle (Both time and money wise ). I was a regular to this place but now would avoid going here at all the cost. All is not neat and tidy in this kitchen. Worst part was management trying to very bluntly defend that rotten D grade sweet, I have reported this to FDA and ll be providing them the frozen sample (thankfully I kept them), later my attorney will take legal cource once my hospital bills and test are aligned. This is the picture of the sweet I bought from them, if you observe carefully the degradation is clearly visible, it was however my ignorace (or rather misplaced trust) that I bought and consumed without checking from these guys. Anyone having similar experience please dont take it hands down. Please do get in touch with me if you want to tag along in the legal case I am building. These guys need to compesate for people's health they have been goofing around with. Regards : PK

Please avoid this place would be my very honest recommendation. I wish I had read some of these comments here. I am a regular at their Decatur location and love the food there - very fond of paneer tikka masala dosa and gobi manchurian. However, this Duluth location is NOT up to the standard - food was completely tasteless, found a black burnt rubbery kind of substance in the food and when I asked, they brushed it off saying that was cabbage (didnt look like it though) and the portions were small (see picture - price was the same as the Duluth location $12.99 for the the dosa). Also, the staff was rude and sarcastic. I did not see an Indian employee and I am guessing there is none in the kitchen either. If there was an Indian chef in there, then he/she may be able to understand and fix the issues with the quality and taste of the food. I will NEVER go back to this location no matter how hungry I am because it is not worth it. This location needs to shut down or this is just a daylight rip off.

We had a very horrible experience this weekend. Our group of 8 had a wait of 30mins which we understood was warranted for our group size and considering it was a weekend.

Unfortunately, after our order was brought out they only made 1/3 of the order. After waiting 30 mins out of courtesy we asked our waiter where the rest of our order was and they claimed their print out machine misplaced the order and had forgotten about it.

When I asked how long it would be the owner he said not too long and that he was putting a rush on the order. I explained that the order brought out was cold and out of courtesy I would expect him to remake the three items. He said no that he could not do that. I said that was unacceptable but the owner didn't seem to care as there was a lineup waiting to get in.

I was upset that no one took the initiative to 1) take responsibility for the mistake 2) apologize for the mistake and 3) compensate me and my family for waiting over an hour hungry.

I'm sure the food is good but the owner needs to change his customer service and...
