China Garden — Restaurant in Duluth

I will not patronize this restaurant again. I’ve eaten here several times with my co workers over the months and let me tell you, The service is not consistent! It was good at first then things started going down hill FAST! If you know what you like, tasted it before and have seen it’s presentation, STICK TO IT and don’t venture out or you will be DISSATISFIED! Sesame chicken lunch meal is okay Pepper steak lunch meal (you might as well just order a vegetable plate lol because the meat is scarce and pretty much non existent) Mandarin chicken? YOU CAN FORGET IT!! I ordered mandarin chicken today for lunch and was very disappointed. The rice had a weird taste to it just like my previous order! When I sat down to enjoy my food, Instead of receiving what Im use to receiving at other restaurants, I was greeted by soggy chicken pieces swimming in a brown gravy accompanied by white onions and mushrooms!!! Huh??? That’s definitely not mandarin chicken!!! Just to make a long story short, I called the restaurant immediately and explained my confusion on the food I received and wanted to see if they could help me out. The young lady who answered the phone nonchalantly says “what you ordered is the mandarin and we can’t exchange it due to us being short staffed with delivery guys blah blah blah… I understand you being under staffed lady but unfortunately this isn’t what I expected and all she could say was the next time I order, they will throw in a free drink or give me half off on the lunch special! Wow, give me a break what a great way to fix a unsatisfied client’s experience .. You won’t have to worry about it because I won’t be eating here again!!!! I’m never the one who complain bit it’s the poor customer experience...

This place must be under new ownership or management. If I could give them a zero stars, I certainly would. We have ordered from here many times and have recommended to friends many times. After a horrible and disrespectful conversation with 2 separate individuals after they packaged and sent the wrong order, we will NEVER order from here again. Because we ordered with Uber Eats, they tried to blame it on the driver which was shady. It definitely was not the driver. Without ever apologizing, they agreed to send the correct order out. After 45 min later and still no food, we called back and they never bothered to follow through. They had complete disregard for their mistake and agreed that "it was fine" that we didn't get our order. The lovely gentleman also said "it's fine if you don't ever come back". Do yourself a favor and choose another restaurant with better quality food and certainly better...

Update: I visited again 5/22/22. Totally different experience than before. I ordered hot lemon pepper (wet) and got dry, hard, plain lemon pepper, with barely any lemon pepper. The shrimp fried rice smelled like the restaurant (like old dirty wet mop/rags) - not sure what is going on with that, but it was not pleasant at all. I couldn't eat anything but the crab rangoon. $33 wasted.

Previous Review: March 2022. Best wings and shrimp fried rice! Highly recommend the hot 🔥 lemon pepper. It's not too hot. The shrimp were fresh and plump. Rice was tasty.
