My fiance and I decided to eat Waffle House around 4:30 am after a long day of work. My first server treated us very well. He had excellent customer service and the food was exactly how I expected it to be.
However, my first problem occurred with someone who wasnt even my server. She waited until I was alone at the table and bodly came over to me banged on the table I was at and proceeded to yell at the top of her lungs that I couldnt put my head down and rest and she scurried and hid herself in what I assume was an employee only space.
Usually, I wouldnt post a review about terrible customer service however, seeing that I have been a server in both fine dining and casual family restaurants, it is beyond me why she believed it would be a good idea to approach a customer (who already paid for their meal) in the manner that she did. We considered getting a few items to go as well but after my experience with the female server who thought it was okay to do what she did, we decided to leave. I was honestly too upset to even get her name I just decided to leave and not come back.
I assumed Waffle House was a diner type of restaraunt where you would only want the best customer service to ensure that first time customers continue coming back and maybe even become regulars so that you have a constant flow of money from those customers.
However, judging by her actions and how she chose to represent herself and Waffle House, my fiance and i have decided to not eat at Waffle House anymore for that reason as well as another. Even after spending my hard earned money at your restaraunt, I deserve to be treated with respect and if my service and money isnt valued, i wont continue to spend money at that place.
All in all, this review would not be here had she handled that entire situation differently with customer service in mind. Being rude, loud, and obnoxious was not the proper way to handle that situation and I am also disappointed in her manager for standing by and just watching it happen. If she did not want me laying my head down, all she had to do was quietly tap on the table to not disturb other guests and request in a regular speaking tone to not lay my head down.
Additionally, while we were there, another guest had come up to that same server and explained that there was no soap or toilet tissue in the bathroom. During our entire time there, no one had bothered to change the soap and I noticed employees were walking in and out of the bathroom without washing their hands (or most likely just rinsing them with water) and going straight back to their work stations. As somone who has worked and continues to work in the customer service and food service industry, that is definitely something that shouldnt be happening at that Waffle House especially if that is the customer service that you give out in return in addition to unclean hands.
To the young man who had served my fiance and I we thank you so much for your wonderful costomer service, hopefully your co workers can learn more from you in how to treat paying customers and not...
Read moreIn town for the Harry Styles concert, June 11, 2018. Afterwards this was the only place open. Place was packed and continued to be packed and this was to be expected. What wasn't expected was the unprofessional and loud nasty attitude and demeanor of the cook Dennis, who when we walked through the door was yelling and screaming at at the two waitresses. Even though the place was full and people standing around waiting to be seated, this did not stop the cook from "loudly" berating the two women. My daughter and I sat at a dirty table for over 30 minutes before it was cleaned and our order taken, however that did not bother us as we could see that they were constantly working to fulfill orders and check out customers. One of the waitresses did engage back and forth with the cook in loud arguments, however, one, the youngest waitress, never said a word, but continued to do her job. You could tell she was visibly upset, and profusely tried to apologize to everyone. I overheard several patrons tell her it was not her fault and she was being very professional. She must have talked to the other waitress about quitting the job because the other waitress kept telling her loudly not to quit her job because of him, not to quit until she had another job to go to. I also talked to her and told her it was not her fault and not to let anyone make her quit her job, there is always someone like him at every job . He even yelled at them for not having a bowl ready for him to put grits in and they need to do their jobs, as this was the Waffle House way. The waitress who engaged with him walked to the side of the stove and handed him clean bowls and he just put them back in the stack. My suggestion to management is since the business is so close to the arena, is to schedule extra staff when there is a late event as you are the only place open after late night events. I understand they were overwhelmed with the crowd, but there was no excuse for the cook's behavior. My other suggestion is to train everyone to pitch in regardless of your position. If the waitresses can't get the orders and the dishes cleaned in order for the cook to cook, then the cook should assist the waitresses and the waitresses should assist the cook, no one should have...
Read moreWhat a disappointing visit.
No one, not even Anthony Bourdain, is going to confuse Waffle House with fine dining, but there's usually a decent meal to be had here, filling, tasty enough and not too terribly hard on the ol' wallet with brisk, sometimes friendly, sometimes perfunctory service. Today, well, today, I got none of that.
Today, the service was nonchalant at best, even though there were two corporate WH employees on site (one was interviewing applicants) no one seemed to be in a hurry to even seat me. I had to ask if I could just seat myself because sometimes they want to direct you to a section (usually they acknowledge you as you walk in the door) and was indeed directed to sit "anywhere over there". And then, I didn't see my server until I had been sitting there awhile, had looked over the menu had put it down and was on my phone for a while. I noticed that there were new menus and that the price of the "All Star Special" really wasn't that special anymore as it was now over 11 bucks for my grits, eggs, ham and a waffle. But, hey, everything's expensive and I'm hungry so while I'm not terribly thrilled with the raised prices I go ahead and order because I was getting a delicious breakfast with scrambled EGGS after all... right?
Wrong.
The eggs were not delicious, they were COLD.
My toast was burnt.
The grits had large lumps.
I was never offered jam or "butter" (spread, I think they called it) for my toast - let alone asked if I wanted wheat or white.
The country ham had been removed as an option on the menu and the city ham had gristle in it that made me feel like I was chewing a sidewalk, not to mention enough grease, on both sides, that I had to take napkins and wipe it off before I could get to said concrete!
I asked for a to go box for the waffle and wasn't given any syrup, utensils or "butter" - good thing I wasn't at a hotel (this location is near the Gwinnett Convention center) without any of those things.
All in all, a dismal encounter.
I'll think twice about where to get breakfast and I sure won't come to this location again, not even if my car dealership is just down the road and it's a convenient location for me to stop and...
