I love food from every culture. I have a special love for the people from Ghana; they are nice people. They are pleasant, humble and happy people. They are very ambitious and industrious. They come to this great country and they contribute to American economy. So a friend of mine stopped by to cheer me up and he asked me out. I was not interested but he changed my mind. I walked in the Safari restaurant and the pictures on the wall opened my appetite. This restaurant has chefs who are trained in the USA to cook Soul Food, local, continental and Chinese dishes. The chef gave us a sample of the fried rice. It was the best I tasted and I eat food from every culture. The prices are not reasonable and the portions are huge.
We got bowls with water to wash our hands and that was so organic. My friend had seafood with okra and fufu. My friends ate with all ten fingers. I have never heard so much slurping and slopping in all my life. I sat ate with my fodd but soon joined in with only five fingers. It was flavorful. His food has turkey, fish, crab with okra sauce. I had grilled fish with fufu They have this black gravy that was so nice and tomato sauce with onions. We were treated with respect like anybody else and I will never forget the experience.
They serve breakfast, lunch, dessert and dinner. You can preorder. They accept decit, credit and cash. There is handicapped parking to enable easy access to the shop. You dine while watching tvs. The shop is super comfortable. You need to try it out. Just enjoy food from anther culture; it is a wonderful experience. Check out the schedule; I will upload pictures...
Read moreI came here one day with some friends. I was from out of town and visiting them for a few days. I did some research, and this place kept on coming up as one of the best spots in town. I don't have a lot of African experience, so I was instantly intrigued. After a morning of exploring the Prince William Forest, we came here for a good lunch.
As a guy who's not well versed in the cuisine, I asked for advice, and I was lead in the right direction. I can't seem to find the exact menu item, but I know it the main focal point was that jollof rice. Man, the flavors in that rice were very new to me, and very delicious. Lots of good heat, but not spicy at all. You gotta try it.
Also on my place was some sort of meat, some sort of delicious fish on the bone, a nice hard boiled egg, and some sweet plantains. Along with a small salad. Good meat, good sauce. Love eating meat off the bone, adds so much good flavor. Just a really nice meal.
I also got some Sweet Plantain Balls (Caclo) as an app. These things were amazing! I usually don't like plantains, But these were very soft, coated in a tangy, umami powder, again a new thing for me.
Overall, I very much enjoyed this place. If you're ever in Dumfries, VA, I would highly recommend you stop by, as this was the best food I had the whole time I...
Read moreI’m going to make quite a detailed review for you guys I hope the owners/chefs read this, I ordered waakye it came with fish which was morbid no flavor and no type of spice it was just straight salt. For the shito that was disgusting it was heavily oily which tasted oddly weird and there were so much pepper flakes in it which is terrible for you to digest. The stew that came with it was much worse than the shito it tasted like mere water it was morbidly disgusting and stomach churning almost made me throw up there was no spice to it, it tasted like someone brainlessly sprinkled salt and water into tomato sauce it was morbid the waakye was mid and they put noodles on the side but it was like the noodles was limited or something the way they put less than an 1/8 of noodles in the paper box it came in. To end this off please hire people that can actually cook or learn how to cook better because what I ate this night was disgusting and I’m mostly gonna have to go to the hospital after...
