I'm used to rural buffets and all, but this was oddly disappointing.
Food: Sadly, with such limited options compared to an average Golden Coral, I only really ate a few things. I'd say the fried chicken, sad little fried shrimp, baked chicken, and some other items were decent, like a 6/10. Didn't taste off, was always fresh obviously, but other than that pretty much all side items are subpar.
Buffets aren't known for amazing sides, but in this case they straight up will put out anything for the lines of hungry people to eat anyway. With only like four buffet islands, and a bread/dessert isle, I don't really get the buzz about the place. People come to these places because it's the only decent buffet for miles and miles, or they have nostalgia, and prefer it anyway. I'm sort of the same way about Golden Coral, but this place is inferior to an average Golden Coral in every way possible.
Service: Pretty nonexistent, mostly because it was stuffed with people. Even then, they still go to our drinks and all, but we had to track someone down to get more plates. I say the service was a 2/5 because there were staff coming out and trying to top off a lot of food items, even when it was full, sometimes causing a little mess, or holding up the line for a minute or more. This isn't the waiters or most of the staff's fault, but they failed to keep any decent amount of turkey available in the first hour of lunch starting, on Thanksgiving.
For a place that I assume has been over for 5+ years, if not well over 10+ years, they are oddly unprepared for Thanksgiving. Poor organization of food items, no labels AT ALL, so you better just eyeball it and guess if that's a chocolate muffin, or a blueberry muffin. The buffet islands are oddly positioned, people say you can just go where ever, but lines form and it becomes chaotic. Lines colliding with each other, people squeezing to get out of a corner made by the staff on accident I assume. And when there's some giant people walking around, it can be annoying, because it also makes it harder to get food and go sit down. Had to wait to just get my food, and not like a 30 second wait, like two minutes of waiting for the long line to circle around an island, while another line is colliding with it and making it hard to know where to line up at.
Atmosphere: It's old, but not in a charming way. It wasn't dirty really, I just don't really enjoy the stuffy claustrophobic atmosphere. It's the sort of place you know won't be around in 10 years, they maintain an old building well, but once that nostalgic fan base in their area dies out or leaves, they won't have anything. I don't intrinsically dislike old themes and all, I just didn't like the vibe. Golden Corals are an example of how to move forward and not just merely survive. They update their appearance, but still have some charm to them. I hate to compare this chain of buffet to Golden Coral, maybe if it was a local spot and not a chain buffet, I'd say it's unfair to compare them, but they are literally of...
Read moreI would like everyone to please read this review.. I used to live in this area, and my family would always come here almost every week. Now that I am older I have moved away from this area, well, I visited my grandparents about a year ago and we went back to eat here. We got in around 4:15 so the lunch prices just switched over to dinner, which is around 13$ or so a person. So as I am walking through the dining area I notice no workers setting out any food, it looked absolutely desolate around the buffet. Me and my wife ordered the dinner buffet, and our first trip to the buffet, we noticed the food was absolutely cold, there was no fresh bread, everything looked like it had sat there for at least 2 hours, it was bad, and I don'y really write reviews about stuff like this but I was extremely unhappy.. So after taking 1 or 2 bites of my food me and my wife decided we refused to eat the food that was out there, and wanted what we actually paid for which was dinner price food. So we asked our waitress if we could speak to the manager, her words were (One is not here, and the other one is helping unload the truck) so we literally waited about 40 minutes for a manger.... keep in mind 30$ later and not eaten but two bites, we were definitely displeased. About 7 waitresses were behind us at the drink station laughing and playing on their phone. So then a manger finally comes in, I forgot his name but he has been working there since I was a young kid. We tell him the food is cold, old, and we want our full refund (keep in mind we haven't even started eating yet because we refused to) His exact words were (I can't give you a refund because you have been here for an hour and have "been eating"). I then told him, (we have not ate anything besides these two bites because we knew right then we wanted our money back and were not going to pay for this food. He tells us he can't do anything about it. So yea, long story short, a childhood memory was ruined that day, we walked out with a 10$ giftcard to western sizzlin which we threw away, and we also left hungry at 30$ lighter. Me and my wife still talk till this day about that experience, and it makes me...
