Crab Sea — Restaurant in Durham

Edit 3 Months Later: I know they didn't have the nerve to reply with recommendations for storing food, like THAT was the problem.

Friend, I bought the food, drove home (less than 10 minutes away) opened the package and it stank. Like bad pork sausage. Why does your CHICKEN smell/taste sour like rancid SAUSAGE? Are YOU following storage procedures in your restaurant? Because the problem definitely wasn't me. And this wasnt the first time something about my food has been "off" - this was just the most egregious.

The original review had several thumbs up, which were lost when I edited this. So im obviously not the only customer who has experienced this.

And now you ALSO have comments apologizing for the roaches in your kitchen being "disturbed" during pest control and moving to the dining room, where patrons could see?

I love everything about this place except the food. I've tried MANY times, but my last order (Chicken and Broccoli) was rancid. There was literally a pungent smell coming off the meat that I've never experienced before. The smell alone immediately made me nauseous, and I threw it away. I won't be returning.

Attention all Durhamites, travellers, and seafood lovers. Stop by Crab Sea Restaurant. My husband and I have found our one and only seafood hotspot that knocks out all other seafood resturants in Durham, NC. I even keep their paper menu in my purse for future ordering. Lol. We have been there twice and already addicted to their food. The food is always hot and fresh. We had the opportunity to try the chicken and strimp lo mein and their egg roll. Yummy to our tummies. No kidding - We are determined to try every item on their menu as we are seafood lovers. Not only is their food awesome, the sit down dining area is spacious, clean, and the ambience is peaceful. We cannot forget the pleasant voice of the cashier who took our order. So travellers, Durhamites, and all seafood lovers, stop by Crab Sea at your earlest convenience and get your seafood grub on. I haven't had a boil from here but I'm not sure if I want to try anything else here. Recently I had ordered scallops from here and there was something off about them.

They already don't look great when you get them which was the first sign of trouble for me but after eating one I was disgusted. I'm from the coast and seafood is my favorite and I immediately knew something was off. So I took the breading off one and I still cannot explain what I saw.

The photo attached shows what I got from here and the scallop from an actual seafood restaurant i went to the next day and you can see the huge difference.

Idk about anyone else but I know for a fact that scallops are not something that is rolled up like a fruit roll up. These scallops are disgusting and I cannot believe they actuality have these in the menu and the fact that they are on the menu has me questioning the authenticity of the rest...
