Ok so I had to come back and edit my initial review. Originally I just posted WOW NOM and while that still perfectly describes this place, it's time to put some serious effort into this review as this place deserves it big time. At first I was a little hesitant to visit as I do not like seafood at all. Raw fish is especially out. I tell you now though, don't let the name turn you away, there is more offered on the menu in the non raw category, and a few even completely out of the seafood category entirely. That brings me to the Bull City Bulgogi... HOLY HELL where has this thing been all my life!?! This is quite possibly the most delicious thing I have ever eaten... Do not forgo the orange boom sauce! That is what really makes this roll. I'm at a loss to describe how tasty this thing is. I'm not a food critic or a "reviewer" and as a result probably lack all the creative descriptive details usually found in these reviews. Seldom do I even write these reviews. I usually only sit down and type out a review in general when a place goes above and beyond which brings me to the company and staff in general. After talking with the owners I discovered that this is the first and only Sushioki at present and is owned by two families/partners, one of which I know for sure works in the restaurant daily ie father and son. All of them are INCREDIBLY friendly and will go out of their way to make you feel welcome and to make sure you have everything you need. I have never been treated so nicely in all my life at a restaurant. Almost feels like you are a guest in their home. They have even memorized my name and order after only a few visits. If things aren't busy, they usually will serve you at your table, make sure you have everything you need, and just overall make the dining experience so pleasurable. It seems as though the son primarily runs the restaurant and works on the menu. There is something to be said for family run businesses. Its a rather refreshing change compared to all the corporate options out there. Now, its clear that at some point they are going to branch out. Only a fool would dispute the obvious future success of this establishment, and I hope that when they do franchise, that they maintain the quality and care. Its this additional care by the owners that is immediately evident in the restaurant too. Even after a year in business, the place is spotless. Their health inspection is equally spotless! In summary, this place is absolutely incredible! It will forever be on my lunch and or dinner stop list. I live in Knightdale and can easily say I would drive to RTP just for dinner at this establishment. The word is slowly getting out. This place is going to be HUGE! I implore anyone reading this to go give it a try. Also last thought, Duke employees get a...
Read moreHonestly was a little disappointed after reading through the other reviews. Had this catered for our office and everything was fresh, but the food was nothing special. Pretty surprised considering how great the reviews are.
I ordered the Bill City Bulgogi Bowl, Crab Rangoons, Asian Cucumber Salad, Wasabi Rice Chips.
The Bulgogi Bowl was perhaps the biggest let down. The meat didn’t have a taste at all. May as well have been unseasoned ground beef. The sauce was good but all I could taste was the diced radish throughout the bowl.
The Rangoons were good but very different from any Crab Rangoons I’ve ever had. Not a bad thing but if you’re expecting the same taste you’ve always had everywhere else, you’re in for a surprise.
The Asian Cucumber salad was decent but just tasted of sesame oil and ponzu sauce.
The Wasabi Crisps were inedible. I can halfway chalk that up to being delivered and not fresh. But the flavor wasn’t there either. Some people ordered the BBQ version and upon comparison they tasted exactly the same.
Not sure if it’s worth trying this place again. I’ll leave it to the people that have had a...
Read moreI use to love this place on uber eats when living in Brier Creek but hadn’t had it in YEARS. I stopped by in person this time and it was really quick experience. I think burritos are premade yet taste fresh. My fave has always been the crustacean sensation and I ordered again today. I tried newly the Korean philly cheesesteak egg rolls which almost taste like the same cream cheese base filling of crab rangoons. It was fresh, hot, and crispy yet flaky. My cashier was very quiet and not very conversational but no complaints as it is not a full service kind of place. I was in and out with my order in 10 minutes which at lunchtime or leaving medical appointments in area is a Godsend. Definitely enjoyed a trip down memorty lane. My sushi burrito was well preportioned with the fried shrimp and crab sticks, the perfect amount of lettuce also. I feeled the pickled daikon is soooo strong that is transforms entire flavor. I had forgotten that I use to sub cucumbers for the pickled daikon. But that’s on me. For random restaurant in rtp it’s definitely good especially if not wanting the endless fast food...
