J & J Fish & Chicken — Restaurant in Durham

Came in with my husband to pick up a bite to eat late night, Friday 12/15. My husband and I viewed the menu for about 5 minutes and discussed what sounded good, as we had never been in before. The young lady at the front desk was rude, aloof and seemed very uninterested in providing us any service or even looking up at us to answer simple questions. After stepping in the back to speak to her father (the owner) because she didn't know what the crab cake was, her father approached the front and began speaking Spanish, to which my husband began to reply to him back in Spanish, surprising the two that he was not in fact a white man, but Latinx as well. We were given half answers and for some reason no one working in this restaurant makes eye contact when they speak to you. We finally settled on our meals and appetizers and placed an order. If we had not paid already by card I would have walked out. It was a 40 minute wait for dry-breaded, "hot wings"(who breads a hot wing, unless it was frozen, pre-breaded and in a bag?), boneless wings that were more like crispy half tenders, a salty "spicy" shrimp box and over priced large drinks. In the time it took them to cook what should have been fresh food all we were given was terrible sub-par service, $40 worth of cold food and a literal nasty taste left in our mouths. I stopped in to get lemon pepper wings and fries on my way home from work. I made the mistake of not checking my order before I left. I arrived home and realized that the wings were not lemon pepper. I immediately called the restaurant to inform them that I would be coming back to have my order corrected and asked if they could start a fresh order so that I didn’t have to wait. He informed me that it takes about 10 mins for them to cook. I was then told to make sure I returned the old wings which was not a problem at all. I walked in and gave the first order of wings to the guy working. He informed me that the new wings were almost done. I waited a little less than 10 mins before he came back with my order. I ordered a lemonade and jumped back into the car to rush home with the food for my family. After arriving home I noticed that they had simply dropped the old wings again and covered them with lemon pepper. They were extremely greasy and not at all good. The only one wing that was cooked properly was the one that they had to make fresh because it was half eaten from the first batch. It’s safe to say that I will never order from this place again. Wasted my money and time! Especially being that I live 20 mins from the restaurant. Poor customer service and the food was not good at all! I drove 2 hours away because I had a big craving of J J fish and Chicken. I'm use to eating at this company in Milwaukee my hometown and Atlanta. Was my first time eating at Durham NC location. The food do not taste the same it's different. First off when I got there the lady in the front I can tell she was not a people person because when I tried to make conversation she couldn't hear and had no type of people skills lol. Nonchalant no expression. I order 10 whole chicken and 12 pieces of catfish and fries. Small cup of mac. Everything was bland. Any other JJ would of had flavor and seasoning. The catfish did not taste like catfish. Taste like some other type of fish. Lies I been bamboozled. Chicken was crispy but bland. Fries don't taste like JJ chicken fries at all. Taste like fries you get fries from Wendy's or just basic fries with no seasoning. Cakes were good tho. Mac and cheese basic as hell. No flavor. I'm extremely disappointed. Was not worth driving 2 hours for at all. Miss the ones I ate at in other states. Oh yeah and the chicken was dry too. Again believe me when I say (((BLAND NO TASTE))) frfr 100 no lie.
