Cook Out — Restaurant in Durham

I love Cook Out but I've been to this location 20+ times and can say without a doubt this is the WORST store in the triangle. Wait times are consistently long, even when the place isn't that busy. When I arrived tonight, there were 2 cars in front of me waiting for food but I was able to pull up and place my order right away. Nice! Except after ordering, I waited close to 10 minutes for the 2 cars to get their food. Then I pulled up to the window, paid, and proceeded to wait what felt like another eternity before getting my food. I could see the cars piling up behind me in my mirror, no doubt destined for an even longer wait than what I was experiencing. I was so pissed that I retrieved my crumpled-up receipt and checked the timestamp so I could know how long it was taking them. The verdict: It took SIXTEEN minutes from the time they swiped my card to the time I got my food!! So in total I waited 25 minutes for a $5 meal despite being able to order it right away.

When I was finally served, I didn't get an apology or explanation or anything. They just handed me the bag and closed the window. Great customer service...I don't think I've ever been served by someone pleasant at this location before.

The food was good as always, except the quesadillas were charred to the point of being almost burned. I don't mind if they're charred, but I'm not sure how you manage to overcook something when you clearly know the customer's been waiting so long for it.

The layout of this place is idiotic, too. It becomes a zoo when they're busy. Like other Cook Out stores, there are 2 drive thru lanes. But if the right lane has more than 3 cars waiting, the left lane will be blocked so you're stuck with just one lane -- terrible planning! I don't even think there's a sign indicating there are 2 lanes, so I feel like a lot of people don't even realize the left lane exists. The lanes are enclosed and only 1 car wide, so once you're in line there's no way to leave if you find yourself waiting forever (or god forbid, have some sort of emergency). As I was leaving today, the drive thru was backed up all the way to the street since they were serving people so damn slowly. I did my good deed for the day and flagged down a few cars, telling them how long I'd waited and suggesting they go somewhere else. They'd end up waiting 45 minutes or more if they stayed. Ridiculous.

Finally, the neighborhood sucks. Kind of a sketchy area, and good luck if you need to turn left onto Hwy 70. Thankfully I'm usually headed the opposite way and get to turn right, which isn't too bad.

If there's one decent thing I can say about this store, it's that they usually get my order right. But my orders are never complicated, and they still do mess up every once in a while. I couldn't imagine placing a custom order or a large order here though, it would be a nightmare.

I don't know how the reviews for this location are so good. The food is what you'd expect from Cook Out, but like I said -- this particular store is horrible. Corporate should be embarrassed, but all they do is post their phone number here and ask you to call them instead of actually doing anything to improve the restaurant. Guess they're perfectly happy being mediocre and having other fast food places put them to shame.

PLEASE DO SOMETHING! I did you the favor of typing out a long review, now you know what you can work on. So disappointed that I finally live near a Cook Out but it's the worst one...

I ordered a chocolate peanut butter milkshake through the drive-through and the associate asked me again what I wanted which was a chocolate peanut butter milkshake she said peanut butter milkshake and I said no a chocolate peanut butter milkshake with extra peanut butter and then she said again a peanut butter milkshake and I said no a chocolate peanut butter milkshake with extra peanut butter. I get home only to find out that she’s giving me a regular peanut butter milkshake as you can see from the pictures is vanilla and the color of peanut butter didn’t taste any chocolate in it. It literally was a peanut butter milkshake. I asked for Cajun fries. I ended up getting regular fries so I can say that when I go to this location when the manager is on duty everything comes out perfect but not sure who was there today at 11am but it was not good service at all. So be mindful there is an awesome manager who works the window some morning who is black whenever I order when she is there everything comes out amazing. Today was not it I hope I can change this rating but it’s really disappointing when you pay for something and they miss the mark...

I went to get a double bacon cheeseburger tray with a honey mustard wrap and seasoned fries... There was nothing on my plate right!!!! The wrap wasn't even on there!! My fries wasn't seasoned and my double bacon had no bacon one burger no tomatoes a little mayo I asked for extra.. Aslither of a pickle and I asked for extra some mustard and ketchup.. Ooooh and nooo CHEESE!!! The only thing that was made right was my milkshake!! Never mind the fact I made two orders.. My first order I had to repeat 5xs!! And then it was STILL WRONG!! THAT WAS a 1/4 cheeseburger with lettuce mustard mayo and pickles... It had one withered piece of lettuce.. A piece of a pickle .. The hush puppies were cold and so were the fries!! Asked for a tea and a got a coke and then the last preceded to tell me they have no ice!! This was the worst service I've gotten from this restaurant in 8years!!! I wanted to get my money back or my order prepared properly but I stay across town and as you see there's no phone number so I paid $13.15 for some food that I didn't and couldnt...
