I travel to Raleigh on biz very regularly since my home office is in the area (previous IBM building). When I'm In Raleigh/Durham I exclusively stay at the Doubletree because of this restaurant.
The bar tender Kevin is a local favorite and is fantastic behind the bar - he remembers what everyone drinks!!
Have a seat at the bar or the restaurant and have a social conversation with other folks staying at the hotel. Everyone from airline folks to people in town for a convention or a college football game. My point is the atmosphere is wonderful with great people including the staff.
My favorites on the entree is the chicken Danielle which is actually like a surf and turf, followed by the shrimp and grits. That said, I also had the Pines salad w Salmon and that is pretty fantastic as well. Fried calamari is super fresh and delicious as well.
Literally, I haven't had anything here that I didn't like AND, if you're staying there, you don't have to drive anywhere! or order room service, cuz you can!!
I'll come back here...

bar service was great, environment is welcoming and fun when...
